I just got this email...

Dear Friends,
Please do not take this for a junk letter. Bill Gates is sharing his fortune. If you ignore this you will repent later.

Microsoft and AOL are now the largest Internet companies and in an effort to make sure that Internet Explorer remains the most widely used program, Microsoft and AOL are running an e-mail beta test.

When you forward this e-mail to friends, Microsoft can and will track it (if you are a Microsoft Windows user) for a two week time period. For every person that you forward this e-mail to, Microsoft will pay you $245.00, for every person that you sent it to
that forwards it on, Microsoft will pay you $243.00 and for every third person that receives it, you will be paid $241.00. Within two weeks, Microsoft will contact you for your address and then send you a cheque.

Regards.
Charles S. Bailey

I thought this was a scam myself, but two weeks after receiving this e-mail and forwarding it on, Microsoft contacted me for my address and within days, I received a cheque for US$24,800.00. You need to respond before the beta testing is over.

If anyone can afford this Bill Gates is the man. It's all marketing expense to him. Please forward this to as many people as possible. You are bound to get at least US$10,000.00. We're not going to help them out with their e-mail beta test without getting a little something for our time.

My brother's girlfriend got in on this a few months ago. When I went to visit him for the Baylor/UT game. She showed me her check. It was for the sum of $4,324.44 and was stamped "Paid In Full". Like I said before, I know the law, and this is for real.

Intel and AOL are now discussing a merger which would make them the largest Internet company most widely used program, Intel and AOL are running an e-mail beta test.

When you forward this e-mail to friends, Intel can and will track it (if you are a Microsoft Windows user) for a two week time period.

For every person that you forward this e-mail to, Microsoft will pay you $203.15.
For every person that you sent it to that forwards it on, Microsoft will pay you $156.29.
And for every third person that receives it, you will be paid $17.65. Within two weeks, Intel will contact you for your address and then send you a check.

I thought this was a scam myself, but a friend of my good friend's Aunt Patricia, who works at Intel, actually got a check of $4,543.23 by forwarding this e-mail.

Try it, what have you got to lose????

(For those who might actually believe this: No, I am not validating this crap. I just find it amazing that some people do believe it.)

Send it to me please. I must have it. With four computers here I can forward it to a lot of people. I will have a new house and car in no time.

And yes... The person that forwarded this to my wife, does believe it.

She knows I work at Intel. I'm considering replying and saying something like, "I thought it was crap, so I called my work to let them know what's going on. And they told me that it's TRUE!!!" ;)

But knowing this person, she'd probably mortgage her financial future on these "earnings."

Everytime a friend of mine would email me this junk, I'd ask them not to send it anymore. If they did it again I'd ask them not to do it again or I will block their emails. The third time they get blocked.

Amazingly, the average IQ of my friends has gone up as the idiots are slowly weeded out. :)

Even if it wasn't... it's not hard for someone from MS to get ahold of the email or the email have a script built in to automatically report back to a MS server. Now, it's highly unlikely that this is the case, but there are ways of doing what the email is proposing.

So 3 spam emails is all it takes for you to end a friendship?

When I saw this 3 years ago, I called the number that was on the message. The person had a good laugh, and apparently I was the first to actually call it. I knew it was a hoax, but I wanted to reply with more than, "This is a hoax."

This one has been floating around work, and its crazy. People actually thing that intel and M$ are the same company, and that AOl would have something to do with it too.

What I find interesting is the switch in the message that first Microsoft and AOL will track, then MS changes to Intel.

First:
When you forward this e-mail to friends, Microsoft can and will track it (if you are a Microsoft Windows user) for a two week time period

Then:
Intel and AOL are now discussing a merger which would make them the largest Internet company most widely used program, Intel and AOL are running an e-mail beta test.

When you forward this e-mail to friends, Intel can and will track it (if you are a Microsoft Windows user) for a two week time period.

Enev more interesting is the prices paid..........first they are even amounts:
Microsoft will pay you $243.00 and for every third person that receives it, you will be paid $241.00.

Then the amounts change:
For every person that you forward this e-mail to, Microsoft will pay you $203.15.
For every person that you sent it to that forwards it on, Microsoft will pay you $156.29.
And for every third person that receives it, you will be paid $17.65.

And in the second section, where it states Intel and AOL are tracking, why is Microsoft the one that'll pay you?
Intel and AOL are now discussing a merger which would make them the largest Internet company most widely used program, Intel and AOL are running an e-mail beta test.

When you forward this e-mail to friends, Intel can and will track it (if you are a Microsoft Windows user) for a two week time period.

As for MS being able to track your email, what about those that use Eudora for example, or use a web based email reader besides Hotmail? Sorta defeats that, hmmm? Add to that that the millions of email messages that are supposed to reflect back to MS or Intel or whoever would clog their servers.....consider how much email actually moves daily.....and all that is supposed to partly reflect back to an MS server? Not likely.

This is just crap for the gullible. Surprising how many are still sitting beside their mailboxes waiting that check that'll never arrive. Total and utter BS.

This is rather harmless, what's worse is when people actually start submitting their account passwords and credit card numbers. Those type of people generally use AOL and are known as the Army Of Losers.
