i just purchased a BIOSTAR GEFORCE 6100-M9 motherboard, and like always when i get new parts and try to start from scratch, i'm having issues.
other computer parts involved:
AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Venice
A-DATA 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR 400
onboard video, audio, lan
liteon dvd drive
2x seagate hdds
after assembling everything, the power light comes on, fans spin, hdd spins, and the computer doesn't post. the manual is awful and has a troubleshooting table that is only half a page long, so it isn't much help. it only says that if lights come on and things spin then push down on the ram to make sure they are in securely.
i've moved the ram around to all the different spots & tried ram from another pc so i don't think that is the problem. i've tried booting without any optical drives connected and i get the same result.
the one possibility is the power supply. the board has a 24 pin connector, but my supply is only 20 pin. research has told me that it should still work as long as it's plugged into the 20 right pins (and it only fits a certain way so i assume it is), but maybe it's the issue.
could the problem be as simple as needing a new psu with a 24 pin connector? i hate my luck🙁
