I've been putting flyers and whatnot around town today, advertising that I'm available to teach piano lessons to beginning/intermediate students, and incidentally, oboe lessons. So far, I have two students lined up. Hopefully the calls will keep coming, and I'll have a steadier job than the gigs I've been playing lately.

{cartman}: sweet. :)

You can make tons of money selling magazine subscriptions by pretending to be a recovering crack addict:)

You laugh, I know a guy who gives 30 hours of lessons at the rate of $15 per half-hour. That's not too shabby. I currently have 3 students, but that will pick up once school starts again.

Since when was music not an art?

15 is going to be my rate also. I pay $50 for a one hour lesson with my current piano teacher, and many other teachers charge 75-100 an hour.

$50 is on the cheap side for an excellent advance/experienced teacher. $75-100 isn't all that cheap tho unless you're learning the rak3. :D

btw if you know any women who play the oboe, please forward their phone numbers 2 me - they're usually pretty horny.

bu-dumpbum....tish. ;):D

Oooh $75/hr... the life of a Flash developer. Just like anything else... as long as the clients are there.

I don't get it.

Anyway, I've got 3 students now, in fact, I have a lesson in an hour or so. It's going pretty well so far, it's definitely a test of patience and ability to work with young ones, but alas, I think I'm passing the test so far. I just hope I can keep making enough money doing this to avoid working at McDonald's...hmmm this thought inspires a new thread.
