Sweet idea on Kickstarter: Turn your new Iphone4S into a GoPro like action cam

I love kickstarter.

I love it too, discovering gems like that makes my day...
Its a good idea, lets spread the word out - and yes, I care so much because I want to see this product being made and sold...
🙂

Also, check out this video from Vimeo that compares the 4S to 5D....
I'd say they ARE close:

Iphone obliviously looses, but by a relatively small margin...
So with that Kickstarter project it will be possible to make vids that are close with quality to Canon 5D and of course the 4S is MUCH more portable...

The biggest factor in loosing to the 5D is audio. (if focal length is the same for comparison's sake).
It's sad that people are people are taking breathtaking HD video with all kinds of devices. Only to be ruined by no external mics.

By chance, do you know the people that put this "amazing" project on kickstarter?

Never meet the dude, but I was googling for something like that to film my paragliding videos...
I'd say you should point your spam detector somewhere else bud...
Edit: I want the project to get funded because I would like it to be available for sale 😀
What not to like? Got an Iphone? Buy a converter and save like $200.00 on the GoPro cam WHILE using the GoPro mounts...Brilliant...

Why not buy an action camera instead of using an awkwardly large and expensive iPhone?

Well,
I am getting an Iphone anyway, so it would be great to use it for other purposes too...

No one is implying that the Iphone is better than the GoPro, but it CAN be turned into one...
A larger version of it...
It would work for me for my paragliding movies and now, I don't have to spend an extra $200.00 on the GoPro, because I can convert my phone into one?

That's stupid - iphone is nowhere near as rugged as the gopro thing. No lens protection and note they never show the back part of it - it either open, which means you'll destroy your phone, or closed... so you can't operate it.

Well you cannot get a decent camera for $40, but I can't believe so many people actually like kickstarter. You get no money back (as opposed to investing in companies via stocks) and for all you know the guy who is asking for money here is just spending it on weed anyway. I assume a lot of good ideas are also sniped by those with money who quickly move in and patent.

there's an application process with kickstarter to limit people bailing. and I suspect it's easier than trying to set up an IPO. plus, the idea is to support the idea of a product, not make bank. It's a pretty neat idea I think. There is the one downfall in that everyone seems to grossly underestimate production times.

edit: wow, talk about morning brain lapse, how many times can I say idea.. sheesh

Kickstarter is a great concept, and it is very useful for startup ventures. My son and his wife just finished using it to develop a new CD they are producing. I call it "popular venture capital." BTW - do you know who owns it? Amazon!
