Well... It's good... but there are some flaws with it. I wouldn't quite throw that on a demo-reel yet.

His skill in texturing needs some work. The materials he uses gives everything too much of a cartoon feel, and going from live footage to that makes that a no-no. His texturing makes everything look like plastic. The cars, the people, the road. ALWAYS SHINY != good.

His audio editing is.... poor. The song starts out "How can you see into my eyes", but he loops the beginning piano a few times before it starts, and where it's supposed be going into his eye, then saying that, it's too late, and it kills the effect. Start the music earlier, have it saying that as it's going into his eyes. The song just stops in the middle and then starts back up again as the car explodes. If he were good, he would work it out so the part of the song where it's straight music was during that section. I understand he wanted "Save me" to be sung as the guy "saved" the girl... but that was pretty half-assed. There are enough points in that song where the music stops for a moment where he could have easily spliced it.

The plot... was... pretty weak. Cool idea.. you know, car chase between some weird guy and some girl... but then it looks like the guy is trying to kill the girl, but ends up saving her or something? Right. I'm not getting that one. Having the guy doing this as he's first waking up is dumb too. I would make it so he's dozing off after working on something cool (perhaps drawing the girl) then he starts dreaming this, and at the end, wakes up again, then something cool happens, like... he could mix live video and modeling, and have him grow wings just like the guy in the animation did or something. The way it is now, it's like 'Oh, I just woke up, but let me start dreaming.'

To be honest, not to be a jerk, but I wouldn't have done a close up of your face, sir.

All in all, good for a freshman, but I'm sure he's done some 3DSM work before he went to college anyway.

PS: Maya is cooler than 3DSM! neenerr neenerr neeee----neeerrrr!

Someone's done editing before!

Wow... I think Ferrari should donate a car to this hard working young man.... Although, in reality, a Spyder could in no way shape or form keep up w/ a 550 brachetta....

And I'd love to see it but I cant get the damned video to work......

Sorry, i wasn't all that impressed. I was sorta laughing when I saw the texture less black guy. 😉 Now if he made the car models himself, I'd be impressed.

EDIT (passage deleted, see page 2) /EDIT
what has the 550 barchetta to do with this??? the second car is a 360 modena...

😛

hmm... it doesn't seem to work... stuck on one shot, after the initial intro sequence... bah, i'll figure it out tomorrow =P

damn, i just wasted another 00:04:22 of my time. zero/screwed up story, mis-timed music, and so-so animation. looked like a punky barbie doll against a men's store mannequin.

????? he did BUY the 3dmax modells of the ferraris (maybe more modells too).

Where does it say that he bought all of the models? In the credits it says "Ferrari models available at www.turbosquid.com Created by me" 🙂

Looks pretty dam cool.

Too much disparity between the live shot and the going in to his eye. Also agree that the music could have been layed earlier so as it was going in to his eyes the music should have been playing. Too much of a weight. But thats not such a problem as he will do animations and not sound stuff.

The flames look too self contained but hard to do again as with any animation to get it to look realistics.

I don't do any animation stuff but it looks amazing to me apart from the minor flaws I could tell.

damn, i suck at the reading stuff... :frown:

ok, i'm mildly impressed (i thought the "created by me" meant the movie.... hail to me; prince of the obvious...)

EDIT emotion

Maya is a lot better than 3DSM. I didn't even bother learning it, although I've heard it's a big easier. Maya owns you all! 😉
