Krispy Kreme is so much better than DD it's crazy.

DD doesn't glaze a lot of their donuts. That's weak.

The only thing crazy about KK is that every time I drive by it, the smell makes me want to throw up.

And you can never get fresh donuts from DD.

you just need to go at the right time.

Same people who like DD's crappy coffee like DD's crappy donuts over KK's delicious donuts.

I'm not surprised. =p

i believe this picture was taken at the original DD on rt.3a, quincy.

you folks looking forward to DD are going to be disappointed, even if They Might Be Giants does all their music. they closed DD University ages ago, when they started to push the franchising hard. the coffee is toilet water (still better than KK) and the donuts are hockey pucks. their quality is inversely proportional to their quantity. new england is saturated with DD, maybe more than CA has starbuck's, and they're staffed exclusively by brazilians.

KK opened 3 stores in MA, and people were driving there from 45 minutes away, around the clock. KK did absolutely no advertising. once the novelty wore off, they were deserted. the last one closed last year.

Every New Englander over 30 knows Fred.

I love the targeted advertising done on cable - no Dunkin Donuts within at least 50 miles of where I live (that's as large a radius as the search engine at their site goes), yet there are regularly DD commercials shown here. Oh Donuts, why must you mock me so?

DD's coffee is weaksauce compared to starbucks, and they are similarly priced.

their donuts are alright though. boston creme ftw.

i just think it has something to do with what area you're from....

in Boston, most people love DD.... here in Virginia, KK is so much better than DD. it probably had something to do with the fact that the DD here are mostly run by <insert a generic ethnic race here> who tried to cut corners by serving stale donuts.

taste is subjective.

personally, I  DD coffee more than any other local place and wouldn't drink starbucks if you paid me to. I'd rather make my own coffee at home, but when I'm on the go, in a rush, or want a breakfast sandwich on my way to work, DD is where I go.

not really a huge donut fan, but I'll buy a couple if they're still warm fresh (just need to get there at the right time, when they're prepping for the morning rush)

I remember hanging out there with my dad decades ago, good times...
This is not your father's DD that you remember:shocked:

They are an institution here on the greater Boston area. There's one every couple of blocks.

I cannot eat DD food or Coke Cola, they both give me heartburn, but Honey-Dew Donuts or Pepsi are o.k.

They're just as over-rated as Krispy Kreme. They're just mass-marketed donuts and coffee. It's not *that* special.

Yean Krispy Kreme glazes everything with way to sweet glaze.

IMHO both Shipleys(yeast donuts) and Dunkin Donuts(cake donuts) are better than Krispy Kreme. Krispy Kreme is nasty. That glaze is just sickening.

I don't drink coffee from any "grab 'n go" place. I only drink coffee from my own machine or a sit-down restaurant.

This is what I'm talking about. The smell of that glaze is overwhelming and horrible.

Dunkin Donuts left Toledo. And it was only Krispy Kreme and a variety of smaller bakers. And then KK left. Toledo has no donuts to enjoy.
I haven't seen either in Columbus yet. I am sure at least one or the other exists down here. Gotta.

Nothing fixes an all-nighter like going to KK at 4am for fresh glazed doughnuts!

Something must be wrong with KK... they had a few around here and suddenly closed (one soon after opening). Now the next one closest to me is 25 miles away in Manhattan.

EDIT>> found the story:
As it underwent an expansion rampage several years ago, the stock soared and fanatics lined up for store openings. But the company grew too quickly and the famous glazed doughnut lost its exclusivity. It even battled baker Entenmann?s over the ?Original Glazed? slogan.

The low-carb diet obsession also hurt Krispy Kreme, as did Dunkin Donuts? revamp, which included expanding coffee offerings. As its popularity waned, Krispy Kreme lost executives, restated its income, endured lawsuits and launched a restructuring plan.
