Damn they're backordered. I'm going to buy a dreamcast for 99 bucks though for sure!

bigbootydaddy, the rumors are actually correct this time.. just read at www.fgnonline.com that sega japan after a meeting today/yesterday has officially stated that production of the current model dreamcast will stop on march 31. Their claimed source was famitsu.com (which i just checked and says the same thing). Sega europe has also made the annoucement.. I don't think this will really affect the purchase of your bba or not though.

<< Currently supported by Quake III Arena, Pod 2 and Unreal Tournament, with more titles to come. >>

Kinda a waste. :( If it supported NFL2k1 and NBA2k1 I would buy it in a heartbeat!

Nope, NBA 2K1 and NFL 2K1 do not work with it. But, NFL 2K2 and NBA 2K2 are supposed to ship this year (yes, even after all the hardware announcements... they are still producing software), and they will support broadband. Also, NHL 2K2, Virtua Tennis 2K2, and World Series Baseball 2K2 will also support broadband. That's why I bought the Dreamcast.. the sports games are top notch.

Quake 3 Arena supports the broadband adapter. It works like a champ, except for the fact that I get mercilessly fragged by obnoxious punks who hang out chatting on Quake servers. (I'm waiting for the DC Unreal Tournament.. I can hold my own in UT. :)

The current Sega Web Browser also does not support broadband. The 3.0 version of the browser should be out soon, and include broadband support. You can get the latest version at http://newbrowser.sega.com/ But, I think that currently they are shipping version 2.0 or 2.6.

Phantasy Star Online also supports broadband. But, it appears to need configuration to be completed in your WWW browser first.. and since I don't have that, I can't configure it. But, it does recognize the ethernet & says it will use it to connect, but then gives an error about the config.

Sega is going 3rd party for Nintendo, PS2 and X-Box.
And Virtual Fighter 4 is PS2 Exclusive.

That kinda sux... but I guess its good to own them all :)

Look out if you're getting this primarily for Phantasy Star Online. The chimps at IGN Dreamcast couldn't get it to work with PSO. They say they'll keep trying, but that's a pretty harsh screenshot. When broadband was said to be "not officially supported" in PSO, I know many had hoped that it just meant broadband support was a little flaky, but it looks to be a complete non-starter.

I got my BBA 2 days ago. Works great with Quake 3. I just swapped out the built in modem with the BBA. Quake 3 recognizes the BBA and brings up a LAN Account menu for the network info. Most of the time there is almost no lag at all. I'm getting about 60-70ms ping times to my nearest Quake servers.

For those of you who are interested, I'm on OptOnline in NY and my Dreamcast is connected through a LinkSys BEF-41 router.

Now for the bad news. Unless I missed something, there is absolutely no support for the BBA in both NFL2K1 and NBA2K1. We'll have to wait for next year's editions.

Although people have internet access, most of them do not know how to use it to their advantage or just don't have the time to search for the stuff that they want. For example the PS2, I have sold 5 of them over egay, 3 the last week for almost $400 each, and 2 during launch for almost $600 each. If they were willing to spend the time to check, they'd find out that KBKids are selling for $479 with 2 games and Walmart are selling for $449 with 3 games. It's the same for the Dreamcast BBA. People don't know that it is available at Sega.com so they have to go to egay to bid for it.

Whazzzzzuppp,

Having received my BBA and playing for a week, I would have to say that lag free Quake rocks! With my 56K, I would sometimes get severe lag problems. Oftentimes to the point where the game was no longer enjoyable. Sega is still planning to release at least 30 titles this year. Hopefully we get a few more that will support the BBA. Unreal Tournament anyone?

Now, which free ISP are you using? The Netzero hack does not seem to work anymore.

:(
