Hi all, just wanted to share with you guys a great program called 98lite. Not sure if it has been bought up on this forum before, but if you still use Windows 98 or ME and want to get the last bit of performance from it, download 98lite from www.litepc.com

After you download it, install it and run the Shell Swap, and select the Chubby one (you'll know what i'm talking about when you run the program)

What it does is it removes the integratation of Windows 98 and Internet Explorer.

I still use Windows ME for my gaming box cuz some older games don't run on XP well. So don't bother flaming me about still using Windows 98/ME

Enjoy

Yup, that's a neat one. Unfortunately I think you need IE in order to run "Windows Update" or I wouldn't keep it around. Use Netscape/Mozilla and Opera for my surfing.
..bh.

I just use the 'Classic' Windows Explorer and Desktop setting and disable all folder .html content. That pretty much does the same thing, effectively.

No, the integration of IE goes deeper than that. You may not think you're seeing a "web" version of things, but tons of stuff in Win98 (and XP and 2k, et cetera) are actually dependent on IE's functions. 98Lite hides some of it, but doesn't really entirely remove it.

So what you're saying is:

"just use the 'Classic' Windows Explorer and Desktop setting and disable all folder .html content. That pretty much does the same thing, effectively."
