This is excellent news. If more countries joined them we might finally have a chance at peace in Israel.

To go along with all the good faith Hamas has shown, right?

I did like how Israel's answer to one group of Palestinians launching rockets at them was to take land from a group that wasn't launching rockets at them and build illegal settlements on it. That's good faith dealing right there.

The bonus to Palestine doing this is that it should enable them to take case of crimes against humanity against Israel to the ICC. The US has enabled settlement building for far too long.

also palestine statehood gets voted on every year i believe... usually with all countries voting in favor exceptfor US (veto power in UN) and Israel and a puppet dictator or two who were put in place by the US.

don't recall big headlines on this when it happens unfortunately

They hope to bring it to a vote at the UN.

Seriously?!?

Oh, that's right, Palestine is run by the political arm of Hamas and not the recognized terrorist side. </sarcasm>

Hey if that is what they want to do.. its their country..

Besides recognizing them might help push for more peaceful cooperation between Israel and Palestinians. I can't see this as necessarily being an absolute bad thing.

Yet it was Palestinians from the West Bank that triggered the last crisis; Hamas people that did the kidnapping.

Remember that Hamas denies involvement for months, then finally admitted it. Which Israel claimed all along.

If the West Bank wants to absolve itself of Hamas/Gaza and go it alone, then they should.

If they accept the baggage, then they also have to accept the need to carry the baggage themselves.

If the UN voted to recognize the Palestinians CURRENT borders, of West Bank and Gaza, then I would agree to that. However, I believe the borders should remain stable, without contest over the 67 borders.

I'm sorry, but there is simply no excuse for continued illegal settlement activity by Israel.

It's a crime, it should stop. Period.

Whoopidy.

Let's ALL of us wave our hands in the air and *bling!* declare we believe Palestine is a state.

How magical!

And now back to the regularly scheduled killing-fest. (The same one that would be raging between whatever factions of knuckleheads over the same ol' bullshit even if Israel NEVER existed.)
