Nick splits hairs by saying, "This is not a majority rules democracy, its a Constitutional Republic."
Thats not "splitting hairs", there are fundamental differences. I suggest looking them up.
Nick splits hairs by saying, "This is not a majority rules democracy, its a Constitutional Republic."
Holy generalizing batman.
How do you know they were OK with it back then? How do you know they wouldnt have opted out if they had the choice?
TRY AGAIN
How do know they weren't OK? How do you know they would have if given the choice?
If you have the majority of votes it can be done, but as far as I can see, tea baggers refuse to work for legitimate change and will not go an inch down the legitimate change road, and instead tea baggers love to get together to moan bitch and cry. Meanwhile the majority laughs at the little immature teabagger crybabies, as children who never grew up.
Thats just it. None of us can prove whether they whined about it or not, so attacking them for your "hunch" that they were for SS 30 years ago is silly.
First you use your lefty sexual insults in calling the Tea Party granny brigade "teabaggers." That is so non-PC of you. I guess using homosexual insults is the new PC, huh?
Second, be assured this is a group that does and is going to continue to vote. There is no need for a get out the vote campaign with them, they are going to be first in line.
In fact, I expect they are going to be calling their friends and all their neighbors to also go out and vote.
There is a MOVEMENT! It is a groundswell of RESISTANCE! It is a HOPE for CHANGE! (See how caps make these simple words more reflective of the intensity of this very large group of CITIZENS and VOTERS?
You don't need a Weatherman to know which way the wind blows!
I think they had faith in the good will of the government under Reagan and the Bushs. Not so much the current One Party Democrat government.
Some, like you, choose to buy the whole (hard left, in your case) agenda without resorting to nuance.
I actually think it is hilarious at how the lefties are so threatened by the kids and the grannies at this particular demonstration. Maybe it is because day after day they are now seeing that there is a whole other America that doesn't buy into the lefty view of the world?
And senior citizens vote, yes they do, already at much higher percentages than Obama's own core supporters normally do. Scary, isn't it, that they have a voice at the ballot box as well as on the ever so calm streets of Quincy, IL?
:awe:
How would you know? I don't exactly have a huge posting history here.
The Tea Party certainly has energized people to vote. I wasn't going to vote in the midterms, but now I will and it won't be for the latest face on the old Republican big war religious morality. platform.
hate to be ON TOPIC
but it wasnt a swat team
its a mobile field force
the closest thing you could call them is a riot squad
its for crowd control, these teams from IL have depolyed to Katrina, the G20 summit in Pittsburgh, and the 2008 election RNC and DNC
they(the tea party) were asked nicely by the Secret Service to move out of an area they were not supposed to be in
they ignored the request/order, so the MFF was moved in to move them out of the area. it was done merely by marching, no force, nothing.
It's just as silly as your "hunch" that they weren't, that's the point. Complaining about it NOW sure seems odd, no? Not speaking about younger tea partiers. Just the seniors benefiting from socialist programs. They had many years to complain about high taxes, expanding government, and the social programs that were taking chunks of their paychecks for decades.
It's fun to ask the seniors at these parties of tea if they'd be willing to mothball SS and Medicare - and it's always that glazed glassy eyed stare and either no response or the giant backpedal...
lol...

What is shocking is the amount of times I've read articles where a journalist has asked about this simple contradiction and they either admit they don't have an answer. One time the journalist actually the person's mind by asking the question! Why would you go to a rally without even having thought these basic issues through.

Why is it that I suspect the Swat teams had some real evidence and all that little ole ladies bullshit might prove to be only a baseless smokescreen. But we can all wait a few days and see if the Feds press some criminal charges against a some few select idiots at that tea bag rally who might have been engaging in true criminal conspiracies while pressing no charges against those that are really innocent little ole lady and little ole men types.
Until more evidence comes out, I for one will not leap to any unwarranted conclusions.
Gee, Obama has expanded the war in Afghanistan, poured billions into favored super large companies and found every excuse for Islamic violence. But he's your guy?
How about voting for none of the above come November? Choose the best candidate no matter what Party they are affiliated with. I will, even if I am now uncertain there are any independent Democrats or Republicans anywhere.
I am focusing on 2010. These elections, while likely a massive referendum on national issues, are going to be focused on local issues and local candidate strengths and weaknesses as well. 2012 starts on November 3, 2010.
ah, so the teabag media overreacted as their wont to do...
what a shock...

Time for tea.
Local Illinois cops dispute accounts of alleged federal crackdown at tea party protest
Thu Apr 29, 1:51 pm ET
A meme is bubbling up on right-wing blogs today claiming that President Barack Obama and the Secret Service unleashed riot cops on peaceful Tea Party activists protesting Obama's visit to Quincy, Ill., yesterday. A YouTube video entitled "Obama Calls In Riot Police on Peaceful Tea Party" making the rounds shows a phalanx of helmeted police officers in body armor politely clearing a crowd out of the street and onto the sidewalk. Or, as the conservative blog Gateway Pundit puts it, "the Secret Service unleashed the riot police on the tea party patriots" demonstrating nearby. The post goes on to quote an unnamed source at the event who claimed that the Secret Service had cleared the menacing crackdown.
The video, however, gives the strong impression that the authorities were local cops, performing a mundane local law-enforcement function; they simply have the word "Police" blocked out on the backs of their uniforms. So we called the Quincy Police Department to ask if anyone there knew anything about President Obama demanding an intimidating show of federal force for his visit to the area.
"I'm almost 90 percent certain that Barack Obama did not do that," said the assistant who answered our phone call. She put us in touch with Deputy Chief Ron Dreyer, who explained the situation. "This wasn't a SWAT team," he said. "It was a crowd control team. In Illinois, we have Mobile Field Force units all over the state, made up of local police drawn from the region, that are brought in for crowd control at major events. The Secret Service had set up predetermined areas where they did not want crowds, and these people began to encroach in areas where they were not supposed to be in. So we called in a Mobile Field Force to redirect them."
Dreyer said that, in all, the process of relocating the crowd lasted about 15 minutes, and produced no arrests or physical contact between protesters and police. "It wasn't just Tea Party people," he said. "The crowd just grew too big, and they voluntarily moved. As soon as they did, we recalled the team."
It might also be worth recalling in this context that federal shock troops haven't flexed their muscle to prevent protestors from taking assault rifles to Obama events.
