Swat 4 Still Better Then A Lot of Games.

Back when Swat 4 originally came out I loved the game. Sadly, it seemed to get abandon by the creators and cheating ran rampant on MP thus killing the game for me. I bought Swat 3 Tactical Game of the Year Ed recently for under $4.99 and decided to install Swat 4 on my PC and my soon to be 13 year old Twin boys. We had a great time playing CO-OP last night but the MP mode I really liked was VIP Escort.

If anyone else is interested in loading up Swat 4 and playing online I made a dedicated VIP Escort Server.

I also have MarkMOD on the server which is supposed to be server side anti-cheat.

Also, you'll have to edit the Swat4.ini to fit most monitors these days. Those settings are

Edit. I can also make a Team Speak 3 server if needed. I have 60MB down and 30MB up Fiber.

I've been with the SWAT series since the (in retrospect, mediocre) second game.

I think SWAT 3 was overall a superior game, but 4 was excellent too. Personally, I'd just love to see another game like them, but it's doubtful it will ever happen with games having to be dumbed-down and accessible for every 12 year old on an Xbox. If it can't be played in 3rd person with contextual cover taking and the awesome "duck behind cover for 6 seconds to recover from four gunshot wounds" mechanic, it won't sell.

As far as SWAT games go, though, I always felt they excelled with smaller, more realistic goals and settings. When they started getting to the later levels, where 40+ heavily armed terrorists have taken over a hospital, and they send in me and my four other guys.... that's just...stupid.

If I were to remake the SWAT games, definitely give more overall tactical control of the situation, more realistic calls (high risk warrants, barricade situations, drug busts, etc), and less of the "OMG TERRORIZSTSTS have control of TEH WHITEHOUSE! SWAT, go get 'em!" style missions.
Oh, and bring back the ability to negotiate, with branching outcomes, ala SWAT 2.

I just bought Swat 3 Tactical Game of the Year this past weekend, haven't played it yet though.

Sucks you can't buy Swat 4 anywhere except used.

Since the game can't be bought anywhere I did a google search for "swat 4 download full" and found a few sites that seem to offer it. I have no idea if its legal or even a legitimate full Swat 4 DL.

If any of you care to search your selves. I already own Swat 4 an the expansion so I haven't tried any of the supposed "Free" full version downloads.

Had someone on the server named Karakuletr. He hit me with the pepper spray (same team) and the Mark Mod killed him, so I guess that means it works.
