Swapping hard drives

I'm trying to upgrade a hard drive from a 80gb IDE to a 80 gb serial ATA. I used XCOPY to copy the contents of the the old drive to the second disconnected to the old one and now it won't boot the new one. It just goes straight to Network boot. I checked the boot sequence in the BIOS and its fine. Anyone know whats going on? wiping the old one and reinstalling everything on the new one isn't an option right now either so I'd like to try and do this without taking that route.

Thanks,
Justin

Setup is:
MSI RS482M motherboard
1Gb Kingston DDR400 ram
80 GB western digital HD
Cnnect 3d radeon X800 GTO
AMD Thlon 64 3000
