Swapping graphics processor?

According to this article:http://anandtech.com/showdoc.aspx?i=1198&p=2 the Rage Mobility 128 is pin compatible with the Rage Mobility series of graphics chips (such as M1). Well I have an Inspiron 3800 with a Rage Mobility M1 and I was thinking about dropping in a Rage Mobility 128 graphics chip into my Inspiron 3800. I mean if these things are pin compatible, what is preventing me from doing this besides the whole desoldering BGA chips and whatnot? Where is the video bios stored anyhow on these machines?
