Swapping epox 8k7a with 8k3a+ will I lose my OS install?

I had a problem when I switched from an Abit BH6 to the Epox 8k7a, my Windows 2000 install did not like the switch. Is this a common problem? I am getting a Epox 8k3a+ in the mail in a couple days and I am wondering if I should be worried about my OS install now surviving the switch.

You really should format and reinstall whenever you change your motherboard. Windows 2k will load on your new board, but it won't be near as stable if you don't reinstall.

Reinstall... I just got my 8K3A today and I had a 8K7A before... it acted REALLY wacky till I reinstalled.

since you are going from a AMD 761 mobo to via 333 one, you should reformat. If you read the faq, there are some instructions on how to transfer your current OS on new hardware. You can try that.

You can try it. Remove your sound card and nic, ect., and drivers, then restart, then shut down for a final time before you change out the boards. It may work.

I was able to do it once with no problems that way, but the last time I tried it I did'nt remove the sound card, nic, and drivers (I spaced it) and could not get internet to work, though file sharring worked on the network as did everything else. So I had to do the ol' wipe-out routine.
