I'm looking into buying the Winbook X2 notebook. The problem is they won't let me upgrade the base model's 10GB hard drive without upgrading to the 1.0GHz processor and DVD/CDRW drive. I don't need that stuff, especially for $700.
I e-mailed Winbook about upgrading the hard drive and of course they said they don't offer that configuration. In addition, they said it is not a "user upgradeable part."
Hmmm. I've never messed with a notebook but have built quite a few desktops. I'm thinking that upgrading the 9.5mm drive would only involve replacing that drive with another of larger capacity. Am I missing something here?
Do these notebook 9.5mm drive use the same ATA connectors as desktop drives? If so I was planning on connecting both the "old" 10GB notebook drive and the new one I'll be buying to my desktop computer and transferring everything from the old to the new so I won't have to reload the OS.
Advice appreciated.
Thanks,
Mark
