Swapped out MB with Vista 64 Retail

I am having issues with a possible unstable mobo and i've swapped it out with another and Vista keeps asking me to activate my key and when i do it says the key is already in use. What do I do?
 
Two problems, then - The first is that you need to remove the drivers for the old motherboard and replace them with the ones for the new board. Ideally, you would have done a full backup, then a clean install and reinstall of your apps. but...


Regarding reactivation - Activate your key, the dialog box that pops up saying it's already been used also gives you an 800 number to call. If you get a live human being on the other end, just tell them you had to replace your motherboard and need a new key. They'll give you one. If you get the machine (Press "1" to be switched to a different machine... Press "2" to be put on hold while we order out lunch... Press "3" if you think Melissa Thiereau is hot...), then press whatever buttons mean the same as "Replaced My Motherboard, so Give Me A New Key Damnit".

Should take you less than 5 minutes.

But I am in the middle of trouble shooting this mobo and if i activate it on here then get a new board from an RMA (new P5Q Premium) then what do i do again, reactivate it? I mean, they can likely become suspect of me.
 
In that case, I would troubleshoot first, and activate after.

And to be honest, they're worried about people reselling. Not someone trying to get their system working properly. 🙂

Ok, i'm still troubleshooting before I reactivate it. In the meantime, i've just been honored by New Egg for a Mobo replacement even 15 days after the anniversary date of refund/replace on the P5Q Premium! :thumbsup:😀

As the other posters said, even tho automatic activation isnt working manual will. But Id just wait until you have a stable system then activate. After about 4 months (if this were to happen again) automatic activation should start working again for you.

It won't activate cause of the motherboard change out. I'm being asked to buy a new key or call in er...
 
I think you get 30 days before you have to properly activate no? That should be enough time to get your replacement.

Calling in is what I meant by 'manual activation'

In addition to that... I haven't had much luck talking to the computer when I call in. It /always/ takes talking to a real person for me. What I do, is when the computer asks me to say something, I don't. It'll try a couple of times, then get tired of you, and put you on with a real person. Other than the sometimes strong accent, they're very helpful, and will get you on your way quickly.
