I have dual screen, and before my task bar used to be on the right side monitor. I decided to redo my setup and now rather then having a monitor on the left of the main one with the task bar, I have it on the right. Now any apps that used to open on the secondary monitor open on the wrong side, thus I cannot see those apps. Some apps I can right click on the task bar item and select move and "Grab" it, other apps I can't.

Is there a way I can reset all cached window locations? Some of these apps were actually kinda annoying as I never even asked them to open on the other screen, they just did, so if there's a way to reset that I'll kill two birds with one stone.

CCleaner can reset the Window Size/Location cache, although I'm sure a google search would probably point you to a more direct approach (such as, finding the folder and deleting the contents by hand).

I didn't think that Windows stored those locations, I thought that it was up to the individual apps, and is usually stored in the registry. At least that's the way that MFC apps designed with Visual Studio operate.

Most (all ?) apps will open on the same monitor they were closed on.

^ This is true if the monitor covers the same area of the virtual desktop, but OP has changed the multi-monitor layout (through drivers) to cover a different virtual desktop space.

If cached window lcoations can be reset, apps should open by default on the primary (real) desktop.

Try opening said apps, and then switching to a single monitor, and then adding back the second?

Thought of that, but I have so many apps I'll be constantly switching back and forth as I notice another that I missed. That's plan B, but I'm hoping there's a way to just reset them all. I'll try CCleaner though, that might work. Worse comes to worse i may need to just hunt through the registry and look for anything that looks like a saved location.

I cant remember if its the new driver or the old one (pre 2005), but you could set which programs opened on which screen on geforce cards
i.e.
minesweeper opens on monitor 1 while minesweeper 2: extreme mines edition opens on monitor 2
