Actually, my 19" monitor went bad, so I just took it back. The one I'm using is an old 17" by Smile. Now when I boot, except in "safe mode", I get a blank screen in XP. Right now I'm using my W98 partition.

The safe mode of xp doesn't let me change monitor. How do I fix this?

It might be a resolution problem. In safe mode see if you can change the resolution (right click on desktop - properties - settings - advanced - monitor) to something lower. If not remove the display drivers in safe mode and re-boot.

hehe

c'mon dude you should know better on this one: Your old settings are too agressive for your new monitor.

Set it all to 800x600 at 60hz and then work your way back up from there.

I tried setting the "default" monitor to 640x480x8 but it still failed to boot.
What I ended up doing was removing the Matrox drivers, booting ok, and reinstalling the drivers.
