Slammed look = ass.
It's an adjustable suspension and I would be cranking it right back up to where it is supposed to be!!!

grills, definetly.. dont change the height though, maybe raise it an inch or two.. i like the agressive look though.
. keep the wheels.

I don't know. I personally would want one that hasn't be defiled in any way, shape, or form.

It is at a ford dealer now - I am going to call them tomorrow and see about their warranty programs. If I can get an extended warranty I will be very happy

As a Ford SVT owner, you can purchase the extended warranty from Ford as long as the factory warranty is still in effect.

well.. i agree with you in this respect:: chances are, with a car that looks like-- its been driven like a car that looks like that. I'm sure that car has been through hell and back.

im definetly a fan of aftermarket mods though.

I just don't see the *cough* beauty in dropping it like that? I wouldn't even be able back out of my driveway for christs sake.

I know the feeling... Right now, the other candidates are:

1998 Black ~40000 miles - Stereo & Exhaust upgrades ~$12K
1999 Silver (see above) - ~$12K or $15K depending
2000 Black 29500 miles - all stock except for 18" Quantum Tek s17 wheels $
(he is asking KBB dealer pricing right now so I have to bring him WAY WAY down)

More info on the 1998:

1998 Contour SVT for sale. Every option aval. including CD and power Sunroof. 4 KVR Cross Drilled rotors with KVR carbon fiber pads, custom mufflers, shaved antena, shaved trunk key hole, shaved door ding guards and badges. Side marker lights, KKM intake (two aval.....one new, one in the car), Fog light mod., custom made grills, A-pillar gauge pod, Dynomatted tunk and trunk lid, plus soooo much more in stereo equip. The car is black with blue leather. It has 41,500 miles on it and comes with the Ford ESP warrenty. The warrenty covers all rental car charges and is bumper to bumper. UI also have all stock parts for the car too. please call me for more info and/or questions. Thanks
The "shaved" stuff was removed and then the holes was hidden by a body shop. No pistures yet. Sounds pretty interesting... I REALLY REALLY like the extended warranty... And the custom grills are going back to stock.

As much as I like those Contours, 64k, even if it's getting a new engine (err getting rebuilt) kind of sounds like trouble.
64K is trouble? What do you think is the lifespan of the Duratec?

I think that was on ebay a few weeks ago but the reserve wasnt met. I think it only got to 9500 (how much i paid for my stock 98 svt w/ 55k miles). I cant believe how awesome that looks, man you should buy it. I like the way the grill looks, id take em over my stock grills. Those rims are so awesome ! God damn thats one of the best looking SVTs ive ever seen. If you know stuff about contour svts then youd know he did all of the best/most popular mods and then some. But if I were you, id find one for ~10k and then spend a few grand to get it the way you want it. I think going from stock to whatever you like is a hell of a lot better than buying it all modded to someone elses tastes.

Edit: I realize i said you should buy it, then i said you shouldnt. Well I meant you shouldnt, but if you did it would still be awesome. 🙂

I honestly don't know but what does it say about an engine that has to be rebuilt in < 3 years? I can understand a 302 in a Fox body with 150,000+ hard driven miles from racing but not half that many on an engine < 3 years old, especially one tuned by SVT

If that is what you are saying, then I guess I agree with you. Of the three SVT's I am seriously considering, the other two are on warranty. One is one the original warranty and has ~6000 miles left and the other one is at 40000 miles but has an extended warranty. The catch with that one is it is black with the blue interior which is not as sharp as the silver with blue or the black w/ tan...

Don't get me wrong - I'd give my left (and right) nut for a SVT Contour (or Lightning, or Cobra, or Focus) but I wouldn't get that particular car. Of course having it rebuilt means there will probably be less if any problems with the engine for a good long time down the road so that's a positive

Have you thought about getting one for cheaper and modding it yourself ? They can be found a lot cheaper than 15k with no engine problems.

Not interested in a butt ugly car that invariably will have >100,000 miles on it...

arent those only autos ? 🙁

Not always, most of them are, but not all. 95 was the last year they put manuals in the SHOs. The older the SHO the better chance there is that it is a manual though.

Yeah, finding one with low miles is the prob. the good thing though is you can get a good 95' for around $6K, You can get one in pristine condition for around $10K, As for butt ugly, you may think so, but I think they look a lot better than a contour, although I do like the one you left a link for.

I agree with the butt ugly statement about the SHO, and im hurt that you would even compare a contour SVT to it. 😀

Yes and No

I am looking to spend as little as possible for a car with as few miles as possible. On that alone the 1998 I mentioned above is the winner. I am not going to do any modding myself except maybe changing the wheels. If I can get a car with some mods that aren't going to cost me a dime then I am all for it (depending on what they are...)

thats smart, i think they look really great stock or modded. Most of the people ive talked to said if they had an SVT (they wish they did 😀) they would leave it stock. It really does look damn good the way it comes from the factory. BTW, youll be totally happy you went with an SVT. Everyone looks at it and its really fun to drive. I find myself grabbing the keys to take a ride even tho I dont need to go anywhere.
