SVCD to dvd-r or divx to dvd-r

I have to convert a video from either SVCD or DIVX to dvd-r (for playback on a dvd player).. I know the divx will take longer to convert to mpeg 2 but, assuming equal resolution, is there an advantage to using one as the source over the other?

Nope, my sony plays vcds but not svcds
