SVC selling lapped Ultra-120 extreme! $89.99

hmmm... is it worth the extra $20 for a lapping..... (including $10 mounting kit for the original)

I bought all my sandpaper for $10

No, it does not. But I would rather not get one at all than get it from any other place than Newegg.

man for $100 you might as well go watercooling. That is a rediculous price for that heatsink. Lapping gives you at most 3 degrees difference if the original cooler was even slightly good, and to pay an additional $20 for at most 3 degrees?

You can get a pretty nice watercooling setup for ~150

Show a decent watercooling parts list that costs 150 bucks? Thermalpuke does not count.

I agree with Rally that 90 bucks is insane to charge for aircooling when a 30 dollar HSF does 90 percent of what this does. A trained monkey can lap a hsf if they know how to read and has opposable thumbs so, IDK, I dont get it. The most one should pay for aircooling is a Tunic since it can reasonably cool a quad and does great with Conroes.

easy

pump: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16835108081 $57
cpu block: http://www.petrastechshop.com/swapexpeunwa.html $48
radiator: http://www.petrastechshop.com/swmcqposerab.html $ 45
misc stuff: tubes/clamps/etc 20

this is using a dual fan radiator, it cools better but costs more. A single fan radiator only sets ya back ~30.

You could reduce the price even more by picking up an pond style inline pump for ~20. It uses normal wall jack power cable but should perform just as well.

im sure shopping around you could find it for even less.

Wow thats an expensive POS. I'm glad i am going phase, I will not have pay insane prices on air cooling, which cant even cool that good.

But I do not want to go watercooling. Spending 100 dollars on an air cooling setup is a better choice to me than spending $150 on water cooling, because I want nothing to do with water cooling. Of course, my $105 bill did include an expensive silenx fan and overnight shipping.

w00t!!!

VinDICATED! 😀

I actually had ppl tell me TR warped the base (and left machine marks) on purpose...

There are better stores then newegg for stuff like this.

Newegg is nice and fast, however you need to think of them like circuit city. There big.

SVC has always been on my A+ list. There fast, and they never failed me once yet.

So whats wrong with SVC? Also Jab-tech, and Petrastech Shop has always been my first 2 places to go huntihng for cooling hardware.

Heatsinkfactory is also good at carrying oddball stuff as well.

And i believe petrastechshop is faster then the egg at mailing stuff out, with / without the accelerated order fee. And i get a nice hand written note with each order at petrastechshop. Did i also mention i get the same people on the phone each time, so they tend to remember you.

So you should expand your market views. Having multipul places to shop is always a good thing.

uhhh you need to redue your math here. This doesnt add up to 150. Infact you go over it quite a bit.

What you didnt note is you need to buy the 2 fans, also its highly recomend you buy metal barbs to replace the plastic ones on the block and radiator. Also, you dont list a T-line or a reservoir, and if he's a newbie, i wouldnt recomend him customing his kit, when he can buy a fully packaged one with excellent manuals over at petras.

So no, this wouldnt work on a newbie. No collant included. And yes i know distilled is cheap, but you need to regularly flush a loop that has no coolant addatives.

The cheapest i was able to pull off a compelte h2o kit was 200 /w shipping. Thats the cheapest, but i wouldnt want a newbie to install it without any good manuals.

So the Ultra 120 Extreme is one of the most expensive Heatsinks but their quality control is so poor you need to pay an extra $20 to get the supplier to flatten the warped base!! At least Tuniq and Enzotech guarantee less then .0003" runout in their bases.

Maybe SVC will design a better mount for Thermalright while their at it.

Okay, here's my theory...

Undoubtedly, Thermalwrong retailers are taking it up the ying-yang on this one!

What these "monkeys" are doing is making chicken salad outta chicken sh!t...

They're taking their returns, lapping them, and charging other monkeys even more money for them!

Dog eat dog, yes? 😀

LMAO

I just hope their salad doesnt taste like sh!t, if it does they could always just feed it to the monkeys so yes I see alot of people buying this crap....

buy.com will end up selling these things for 19AR in a few months and it still will be too much....well. at that price I may buy one and lap the sh!t out of it.

I used to think like this as well. Newegg has been good to me over the years and almost always has what I want. Their free-shipping on many sale items is always a bonus. I am even a loyal Newegg shopper and will purchase from them if their pricing is "close". A few short clicks shows that this is not always the case though. Many other dealers have much better deals, especially on specialty items like fans, heatsinks, and case modding gear.

I have purchased things from a couple of different "specialty dealers". Most recently was my 4th or 5th order from Jab-Tech and their service was every bit as good as Newegg. Every single stage of my order I was kept informed by e-mails and I even received a "Thank you" email from a person and not some automatically generated response. Some may not like this e-0mail spam, but I like knowing that my order has been accepted and my order has been processed and my order has been charged and my order has been packed and my order is awaiting shipping and my order has been shipped with this tracking number all in the course of about an hour. Another thing I have noticed about Jab-Tech is that their shipping is MUCH more reasonable than some places, my most recent order was about 30 total items and the shipping was in a single box, well packed, and cost me just over $10. PerformancePCs is another site I purchased some gear from. It also saved me a considerable amount over Newegg and had excellent service with prompt shipping. SVC also an e-tailer I have had good luck with.

Bottom line, just because Newegg is the best doesn't mean the others are not just as good, if not better because of superior pricing.

Jab-tech owners name is john. He's an great guy, and he loves to help people when they ask.

I love jab-tech, as well as shoppts.com aka petrastechshop.

Oh and if you think a thank you email is nice, this is what you get with every shoppts order:
http://i125.photobucket.com/al...aigomorla/IMG_0683.jpg

Quoc and alex try to write a simple letter with every order as a personal thank you. 😀

Sidewindercomputers.com is coming very close to becoming also one of my top favorate stores. you should check them out as well.

But guys definitely try out other stores. It helps new people get real feedback from the stores. The stores i recomended are one of the top on my book. SVC has also never let me down on shipping, and pricing.

But if you need fans, i dont think a store can beat jab-tech in there collection/price combo.

They named a room after him, didn't they? 😀

I got replies from both SVC and Thermalright.
Lapping is done by SVC.

I cannot find any warranty detail on Thermalright web site.
I asked them in my email and they did not answer my question!
