yeah i am not like super excited about the bezel or paint job, but hey its $15, and it works and global win is at least respectable. so yeah i'd say hot for most. not bad for random system build.

no psu though

This is the hottest budget case deal since the Dealsonic/Skyhawk deals!

Correct, if I had to build a comp for someone (who's not an enthusiast) this would be the way to go...or if I needed one say for my sister, grandparents etc that could care less...

Nice cases I have to admit. Went in person to check them out one time and they had a whole mess. Those guys at SVC.com sure have some modded up cars.

I wonder what ever happen to that Lee guy though.

I think maybe I'll try one of these... needs some mods for airflow to the rear fan and the front intake - where the heck does air come in? The front face has no visible vents, so it probably is taking air from a slot at the bottom, typical of cheap cases.

I went to SVC.com to buy one and found this case. Basically the same chassis and price, but doesn't look as retarded. IMO painting an aluminum case silver is just dumb, plus the face plate looked a bit overgrown and has a floppy-specific cover. The other Global Win case looks almost like your typical generic beige box. Neither has bling, but the beige one at least looks okay. I ended up ordering two along with some other stuff. Why did I do that? Don't need these... damn hot deals...

I bought 3 of these "none-retarded" cases in the past and pretty pleased with the quality (for the price).

Oh good, I was just going to ask if these were "none-retarded" cases.. Thanks for clearing that one up.

I just got mine in, the "non-retarded" version. :p One box had a crushed corner but both cases survived intact. Externally it is just another boring beige box, begging for the spraycan. Internally it is aluminum as advertised and partially toolless. It has a steel bar running top to bottom over the motherboard area to help it stay rigid. That bar can be removed by taking out two screws but I'd just as soon leave it in there. The aluminum is thin so it should be easy to mod. There is not much in the way of air vents in front, just three tiny slits towards the bottom of the face and of course the opening underneath the face. Not much of a problem for a cooler running system but it can be for some. Rear fan grill needs to be cut out for airflow. Still a decent deal because the faults can be easily fixed and I don't see many other cases selling for that cheap, aluminum or not.

The best deal IMO was the SkyHawk from Dealsonic, back when they had it for $25 plus shipping. The aluminum was much thicker (thought would be tougher to cut) and it was a natural finish and had better ventilation. However that deal is now dead. Other cheap aluminum cases like the other one here in Hot Deals for $35 shipped are IMO not as good as this one because they don't take standard fans. Newegg occasionally has a SkyHawk with the same chassis as the one from Dealsonic for only a few bucks more, but IMO it looks strange with that funky side fan cam. Cool idea though, to be able to reposition the fan.

The 'non-retarded' 8850 shows "not available" now when adding it to the cart. SVC adds the 'retarded' 8870 instead.

Has anyone upgraded the PSU to a 350 watt PSU? I can't find one that will fit with 350 watts.

Other than that I love this budget case and recommend it.

I received one of the 8870 cases yesterday and fer the money...I won't complain. It's an older model case but the construction is pretty blessed nice.
Shipping to Cleveland was $13 and change so I got a decent server case for $28.
Those SkyHawk units are awful on the hands...'less you're into pain and bleeding...

Directron had silver model Hiachi/LG CDRW's on sale for $15 so one of those arrives tomorrow. w/Free UPS Shipping
There's no burning software included but you can add either Roxio or Nero for like $2.99. The system I'm throwing togther is Linux so I didn't need it.
The silver CDRW should match up perfectly with the Global Win case.
