SVC GC-68 vs Thermaltake Volcano 6Cu+

Hey all,

I just recieved and tested a GC68 HS and fan from Silicon Vally Compucycle and I had a Thermaltake Volcano 6Cu+ from Volcano 6Cu+ at Thermaltake. I wanted to post my impressions of the GC68 compared to the Volcano 6Cu+.

I tested the 2 with the below system using MotherBoard Monitor and with CPUBurn. I ran the computer for 1/2 an hour prior to testing, this is noted as Idle temp. I started CPUBurn and let it run for 20 minutes and recorded Load temp. I know this is a little short but after 7 minutes the temps never went up, I let CPUBurn run for an hour just to see. Note these are just my impressions and test results.

All results are in Celcius.
Volcano 6Cu+ Load of 60 and Idle of 48 Motherboard Load of 24 and Idle of 23

GC-68 Load of 54 and Idle of 43 Motherboard Load of 23 and Idle of 22
With stock 30CFM fan

GC-68 Load of 51 and Idle of 42 Motherboard Load of 23 and Idle of 22
With YS-Tech 80mm 48.5CFM fan

Personally I am very happy. I posted this primarily to assure future purchasers of the GC-68 that it does pretty good, in my book. Of course I used AS-II as the thermal compound.

Snowpunk68 posted a review on his site that was part of the guiding influence on me purchasing the HS/HSF. Plus search the forum and see other members idea's and though's on the SVC GC-68.

Thanks for letting me ramble.😀

the GC-68 really has performed well. its really a great option for anyone who wants room to overclock a little and keep the noise low. i got a gc-68 before it was even being sold. ive had it on my Xp1500 and have been very happy with its performance. So many ATers have commented on its performance and i dont think that anyone has ever said they are not happy with it.

the SVC all the way

i don't how anybody in their right mind would think that anything named after an opening in the earth's crust through which molten lava, ash, and gases are ejected would cool really good

Snowpunk68, I got that fan as listed above and you can see my results. Which are by no means a qualified or accurate review like I feel your's are.
Oh, BTW, I brainfarted and couldn't find your site that is why it wasn't linked.

I like links.😉

I think it is significantly queiter. I do have a loud system though, but I can't hear the GC-68 though like I could the Volcano or the retail.😀:|:Q😛😎😛:Q:|:Q😛😎
