IMHO: A car is as safe as the person controling it.

Not worth reading, and no, I didn't look.

Yeah, and 90% of the people who drive SUVs don't know how to control one in an emergency situation.

Your point is moot.

I have to say I'm pretty impressed that you can hear a telephone conversation while in a convertible.

...and people who drive sports cars really need to go 120 mph to get to work

Are sportscars the favorite argument of SUV proponents or something? I don't really care about all this stuff, I think drivers in this country can't drive for sh*t in general, be it in an SUV or not.

Around here I'll see maybe 10 SUVs to 1 sportscar.

Ford Excursion in a head on collision with a Kia RIO still will not be pretty for the KIA.

A Kia Rio in a head on collision with another Kia Rio can be just as deadly.

You can't...that's why I said you pulled that "stat" out you ass.

Cars are much less likely to rollover with an equally incompetent driver behind the wheel. You do the math. It doesn't take a fricken genius to figure this one out.

Edit-Pull that out of your ass.

I was making a point moron. Obviously, it flew right over your head.

my point was that you were just random stats with no proof.
why wasn't it 87%, 88%, 95%...

oh sure...you have to resort to personal attacks instead of backing up your random stats with solid proof.

Oh, and for the record, you don't win. That was sarcasm...which obviously flew right over your head along with all my other posts.

If you crash the convertible due to your inattentiveness, you're much less likely to kill someone.

Plus, convertibles have great sightlines, so you probably wouldn't be merging into other vehicles all the time.

No, Kia Rios cost lives:p

Avalon vs. Avalon: both survive, no injuries
Avalon vs. Expedition: Avalon driver gets injured, Expedition driver probably gets injured too due to the truck frame not absorbing the shock and doing something like this.

So? A V6 Camry can go a lot faster than that.

There's a lot of places to enjoy the handling of a sports car like a twisty mountain road or your favorite freeway ramp. Plus you have much better braking and cornering if you have to avoid an accident. Stability control in the new models really do help stop SUVs from flipping, but you still have the cornering grip of a 70's Buick.

It is really obvious that a lot of you guys did not read the article. It was very well written I must say.

Some very good points brought up in the article. 1. SUVs simply do not handle as well as smaller cars and therefore smaller cars can more easily and readily avoid accidents. 2. There is an illusion of safety being in an SUV being high off the ground, with mushy suspension etc which makes the driver less connected to the road and feeling less vunlerable to being in an accident than they really are. 3. Actual crash data shows that SUVs are NOT safer, and most SUVs are on the upper half of the list of cars based on fatalities. 4. Braking distance is much lower in a vehicle that weighs less (Physics duh).

BTW since when is there a mentality that SUVs pick up the chicks? Since like half of Americans own an SUV that owning an SUV doesn't really help me much in that area. Besides what kinda chicks am I supposed to pick up in my SUV the really fat ones? I'd take a chick who would like be because of my Porsche any day of the week.
