ask the friend that paid you to email you from the paypal account to verify that it is truly his.

also just mark the real price b/c you don't want to get into any trouble and make sure you track that stuff well

dude you're letting your greed overcome your senses. Paypal can and will chargeback to your checking account. This is a pretty clear scam, I'd be surprised if its actually legit. (not the other way around)

This is the last time Im gonna sell anything internationally. I like technokid's idea. Only thing I dont get, is why he wouldnt have just changed the paypal account email to his default ebay email. So things wouldnt see so fishy.

I wouldn't sell anything internationally, with the exception of fairly inexpensive items to Canada. Anything else I would always demand as domestic. You've simply got zero recourse otherwise.

You know it's a busy time of year and it's very common to encounter delays ;) . Just remember that Paypal has been known to withdraw the money from you bank account w/o your permission. You need to place the money somewhere else after it clears into your linked account.

they can withdraw from your bank account w/o permission? they can do that? what if the account doesn't have sufficient funds?

That's actually up to your bank, not PayPal. Your bank either honors the transfer request and charges an overdraft fee, or rejects the request due to insufficient funds. Most banks have a formula they use to decide that's based on a lot of factors, such as the amount of the request, the amount of the overdraft that would result, your average daily balance, your length of time as a customer, number and dates of previous overdrafts, etc. You would need to call your bank and see what they say. (Good luck, though, if you use UaSs Bank, Hells Farkno, or some other mega-bank, because their bank CSRs tend not to know anything about bank policies these days.)

Call paypal.

Paypal can take money out of your bank account as easily as they can take money out of your paypal account. If you withdraw the money from the bank you will get crazy charges (I had 54 dollars in charges from one transaction).

Yeah, unless the amount you insure it for is different from the amount you claim it's valued at.

That sets up all kinds of red flags and pretty much guarantees the customs guys will hold it for inspection.
