There are two options in the BIOS that are reffered to as 'suspend mode' and suspend power saving type.' Does anyone know what they are?

Not sure what BIOS you are using. There are several sleep modes, such as S1 (standby), S3 (suspend to ram), and S4 (hibernate). If you specify S3 in the bios before installing Windows, then when you shutdown->standby in Windows, it puts the computer in deep sleep, with only power to the memory. This is to support the concept of an "instant on" PC that consumes less than 5 watts while sleeping.

However, S3 seems to be very tricky to get working correctly, and not all motherboards support it properly.
