Use a good FTP program, Windows' GUI Explorer FTP client can't maintain saturation, it drops off frequently. I'm STILL using WSFTP-LE, fast.

I tried 9.0 and it didn't work on my PC. Skipped 9.1, hoping 9.2 would work. It doesn't. Sigh...

IE6 worked for me. I downloaded both the dvd iso and the live x86_64 iso without it dropping. :D

Also remember to run a md5 check on the ISO. Better to find out if the ISO is good before you burn it.

A number of applications can accomplish this task. Personally use this one, as it handles .sfv as well as .md5.

Depends greatly on the source, of course; though I certainly agree in a number of cases, the .torrent distribution method works a great deal better than traditional HTTP/FTP.

For those utilizing the mirrors, (though perhaps not intuitive) choose a location in a more eastern country (Czech Republic, Sweden, etc) for better throughput during daytime hours in the US.

This particular one is pushing out approximately 900Kb/s - 1.1Mb/s. Of course, if everyone uses this particular one, expect speeds to decrease.

They call it Professional, but it's really meant for home users and hobbyists. The business-oriented distro is now called Novell Linux Desktop. Comparison chart is here.

A full DVD in <25 minutes. Now if only I had unthrottled access to our pipe(s).....
wallfd,
Say, you're not the kind of guy that would cry if he were hung with a gold rope, are you?

A full DVD in <25 min...some of us would kill for speeds like that :D:D:D

Supa,
"I tried 9.0 and it didn't work on my PC. Skipped 9.1, hoping 9.2 would work. It doesn't. Sigh... "

It's your 6800 vid...linux is not very hardware friendly. None of the distros will work with cutting edge hardware (AFAIK).

yes, but this isn't "Professional Edition" that is becoming Novell Desktop (that SLES9 was based on) this the the "Personal Edition" that will become SUSE Community.

It doesn't come with kernel source, developer tools, or the commercial tools (Java, Flash etc).

Anyway, it's downloading now, so I can compare it with my SLES9 and SUSE 9.2 Pro (6 CD version).
