SuSe 9.1 ATI Graphics Driver Install for 3D Acceleration

episodic

Lifer
Anyone want to explain to a linux newb how to install ati's graphic driver in SUSE 9.1?

First thing does suse 9.1 use x.org or x11?

I managed to do this with an nvidia card once - but there are a ton of ATI directions and most don't make any sense to me.

If someone would take on this issue - I'm running a RADEON 9200 full edition. . .

Oh yeah they have for quite some time now.

I know the gentoo way to install them:

emerge ati-drivers
fglrxconfig (answer questions)
modprobe fglrx
opengl-update ati
<ctrl><alt><bksp>

Piece o' cake.

The only thing that should be different for you is having to go through an installation procedure that replaces the first line there. After you have them installed, start at fglrxconfig and carry on from there.
