Survivor Season 24 - One World

anyone else catch the premiere last night? i'm actually liking the twist so far that it's the men vs women and they are living in the same camp. definitely going to be some unique social games going on this season. i am also glad that redemption island is gone.

there are also some nice looking chicks on this season. that one thick girl had everything popping out, i wasn't complaining.

shrug, got bored of it...cannot seem to watch it. The last 2 seasons I would just watch the events, and fast forward through the drama.

last 2 seasons had a lot less camplife on camera, which i personally enjoy watching the social aspect of the game, due to the redemption island stuff. so i'm glad that is gone - more camplife now.

the "drama" is a huge part of the game you play in survivor, since it's the social game, which is probably more important than the physical aspect of the game, since the winner is always decided based on who hurt who's feelings less than the other person.

I agree, but after so many seasons, I am not liking it anymore, haha. I do like the events a lot though.

The show always seems weak at the start then gains momentum once the alliances start to form. One thing that always seems strange is that some of the participants are surprised at how challenging it is to live outside with only the bare essentials. It's like they've never watched the show before.

Several of the cast members said they were recruited by casting assistants as opposed to applying for the show on their own.

“They called me,” said season 18 runner-up Stephen Fishbach.

Ditto for fellow season 18 contestant Erinn Lobdell. The Milwaukee hair stylist initially balked at the idea. But she changed her mind and flew to L.A. for the audition process, where candidates get sequestered in a hotel for several days while the production staff makes its picks.

Chicago native Jenny Guzon-Bae initially thought it was a prank when she got a call at home asking her to apply for the show. The casting agent had spotted her real estate agent profile online.

Guzon-Bae, who’s Filipino-American, ended up on season 13, the controversial Cook Islands installment where the four tribes were broken up by ethnicity.

"They want you to fill a role,” said season 14 competitor and Chicagoan Mookie Lee, referring to the popular “Survivor” personae that continually crop up, like The Nerd, The Jock, The Crazy Old Lady.

......

“They tell us what to wear,” said John Cochran, last season’s nerd who rocked a sweater vest in the South Pacific. Turns out that sartorial decision wasn’t his own. The Harvard Law student didn’t own a sleeveless sweater before the show, but producers wanted that look. “The lady on the phone said, ‘Justin Timberlake wears sweater vests,’ ” Cochran said.

That sucks, why can't they cast normal ppl, instead of using casting agency?

because it's not a reality show?

I loved how the girls were all landing on the net on their butts with their hands out - sure fire way to get injured. Out on day 2 for a broken wrist, lol. Seemed like she was gonna be pretty cool as well, a chic that's a motorcycle mechanic.

i applied a few seasons ago. i want to do it again but hearing things like this make me feel less inclined to.

and the gay guy on the show right now is really really fucking annoying, and i feel it's to the point that he is just flat out faking how gay he is. he is acting the way that movies/shows will go over the top and beyond the gay stereotype.

Anyone watch the Immunity Challenge in last night's episode? Damn, the women tribe just straight up copied the guys. Seriously what the fuck...

im glad matt was voted out. he was such a homo. i also feel like that gay guy is simply putting on an act, he really gets on my fucking nerves when he talks and shit.

im liking this season a lot so far. i like how there is on redemption island, you get to see a lot more strategy and camp life.

What was your idea of the audition tape?

They're running out of shit to come up with, only watched a few episodes. But my friend watches it and always tells me about the twists and new shit that pops up each season.
Hummm, maybe for season 25 they can get a group of NYC'ers who make $350k a year and only give them $200k and see if they can "survive" for a year on that.
