Reminds me of a show where MIT graduates overwhelmingly responded incorrectly when asked if it was possible to make a light bulb light up given:

1 battery
1 bulb
1 wire

Most said that it was impossiblefor a variety of reasons (e.g., you need a switch, you need two wires, etc...).

<< it is time to revamp the school system now! >>

its not just your school system, its the whole culture. Ever wonder why chinese, indian and russian ppl (in general) are so good at school? Its not that they are smarter, its just that they emphasize education A LOT.

My mom thinks 80% is bad, and 90% is 'ok'.

Don't forget blacks and Hispanics. We *all* put a lot of emphasis on education.

<< <<Seventy-seven percent of those surveyed believe in the theory of global warming, that the planet is being heated by an excess of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Of those surveyed, 86 percent said global warming is a serious or "somewhat serious" problem. >>

??? how can fewer people believe global warming exists than believe it is a problem. I think this article has a few holes in it.
>>

It could just be that 77% believed in global warming and of those who believed, 86% thinked that it's a serious problem.

I believe it. In that article they said "The percentage of foreign-born scientists and engineers is growing at all degree levels in America, with the highest ratio, 45 percent, in engineering. " And Programming is a form of engineering.
