Survey: Dems Much More Likely To Talk About Their Guns

A new poll reveals that Democrats are far more likely to be willing to talk about their guns than Republicans or independents.

The new poll from The O’Leary Report and WND, done by Zogby Analytics, reports that 68 percent of Democrats who responded said they would respond truthfully to a national pollster asking them personal questions about gun ownership.

For independents, only 49 percent would follow that path, and the GOP generated an even lower level of cooperation to such questions, with only 44 percent agreeing to respond to those questions.

Of course, gun problem is very actual in our society, but! Why those physicians care so much abouy it? They'd better focus on their own industry. Their industry's mistakes cause about 200,000 deaths per year.

The poll asked the question, “If a national pollster asked you if you owned a firearm, would you determine to tell him or her the truth or would you feel it was none of their business?”

The answer to that question is obvious. It is in fact none of their business. Which is the truth.

I do not understand this point:

“in a call for policies to reduce firearm-related injuries and deaths in the United States and to protect physicians’ free speech rights to discuss gun ownership with patients.”

How is talking to a Doctor about owning a firearm going to prevent "firearm related injuries"? That is just stupid.

Physicians do under the constitution have free speech to ask you anything that they want. They also have the right to hear people tell them that it is none of their business.

Poll is obviously wrong because not only do Democrats not own guns, they want to take everyone else's away, too.

Why do people care about telling a pollster if they have a gun or not? Seems pretty paranoid.

From a practical POV it's not something that you really want to talk about with strangers... guns in general are valuable items that are highly sought after by criminals. Would you tell a random phone pollster that you keep large amounts of cash in your home?

I would count this as paranoia.

This would be an interesting take, and one that runs contrary to what many conservatives say about gun ownership. Principally, you're arguing that the presence of a gun in your home makes you a more attractive target for criminal activity, which undercuts one of the primary supposed advantages of gun ownership.

If I owned a gun and someone asked me if I had one, the only reason I think I wouldn't mention it is to avoid an irritating social situation if I thought the person was super against guns. (or super for them, as those conversations are really annoying too)

Easy, whether I have a gun or not is not any of their business and I would not respond to the poll.

Let doctors focus on health issues and leave the political gun grabbing bs elsewhere. If my doctor asked me if I had a gun at home I'd tell him/her to go pound sand.

I like guns. I have them. I just don't like how they're so frick'in loud, especially when they go off in an empty room or in a car, even with the windows down......even. 🙂

And don't ask me how I know 'cuz I wouldn't be able to hear it anyway, unless it's a question in a poll that I can read.

Physicians are generally the ones who have to diagnose mental illnesses in people. And, perhaps its a good idea to restrict somebody who suffers from bipolar disorder or paranoid schizophrenia access to guns.

Im not talkiing about rights so much as why it might be a physicians business to know about your firearms.

Exactly. Docs and shrinks can use that info/context to build a picture of your home life and present state of mind to determine if you're a threat to yourself or others. Or, they're also in a position to help the patient, as well as police if, say, they felt a patient was being battered by their spouse.
