Surround Sound

Hi,
I usually connect my iPad to my television to watch movies. I have a Yamaha AV amplifier with DTS.
I've wondered how to connect to the amp for surround sound effect. I don't have Apple TV box. I use HDMI cable for the iPad.
Any ideas?

Which model Yamaha?

How do you watch movies on your iPad?

Usually if you plug the HDMI into the receiver, then the receiver into the TV, you can get the digital signal to your speakers that way. If your iPad only has stereo as a source file, you can use Dolby Pro Logic II if your receiver has it (converts stereo to quasi-5.1). iirc the CineXPlayer from Dolby does 5.1 out via iPad using Xvids. And if your receiver does AC3 decoding, you can supposedly do Dolby 5.1 out with the Apple adapters. Variety of options out there, depending on how what you'd like to do.

Thanks for your response...
The Yamaha is model RX-V630RDS it does have the Dolby Prologic II and it does AC3 decoding as well.
Basically, I connect the iPad to the television using the HDMI cable and Apples' AV Adapter. Unfortunately, the AV receiver doesn't have HDMI input.
I'm wondering at the possibility of sending audio from the iPad to the amplifier for processing at the same time visuals to the tv.
Thanks.
