Alright, remember I have the 30 watt/channel speakers with a sub woofer of 100watts/channel at 5.1 surround. What kind of sample rate and and digital audio should I be looking at? These cards all have similar prices, and I want the best bang for my buck.
I certainly like the reviews for the m-audio though...
And it looks like alot of the m-audio purchasers say that the soundbalsters are "clunky"... hmm... And I'm unable to find any reviews for the audiotrak.

M-audio revolution 7.1 or Audiotrak Prodigy 7.1
Stay away from any Creative product. The software is almost as bad as AOL

Creative CPE's for DSL are kick ass. Man even Speakeasy uses them. The rest of their products sucks still though.

Well, crap. The m-audio and the audiotrak both have similar prices, and similar positive reviews. I guess I'll just buy both, and use the M-audio on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Then use the audiotrak on tuesday, thursday, and saturday. Then alternate on Sundays.
Well, I guess I'll go on and print out all the specs and see which one is more powerful, if either one is. Thanks for all your help guys, you cant really tell me which one to get because they both have such good qualities. You limited my search from tons of soundcards to two great ones. Thanks! 🙂

Has the Audiotrak Prodigy 7.1 sound card come out yet? I cant find it at Newegg.com, Amazon.com, Fry's Outpost.com, nowhere! Anyone have any information to shed some light on this?

not particularly...but the thing is that no DVD or DVD-A or SACD or TV-show...or anything like that comes in 7.1. 7.1 is merely the back surround emulated into two speakers

yes, but consumers are one for numbers. That is why I tell people to get 2 high quality stereo speakers and work from there....Jumping into surround sound just gets you into a system with no upgrade potential.

I am going to be be building something similar to the dayton MTM design this summer except with Vifa drivers. 2 6.5 " fiberglass cones D25 tweeter. Should come out to about $400 total. 😉 But we are getting wayyyyy off topic. The point anyway is that theres no need to buy 7.1 computer speakers. On a budget, if you really want surroud sound get a 5.1 setup max.

I agree, creative sucks, they are only good for games, the revo is better for music., I hear the chaintech is also a very good budget soundcard.
