Surround sound in linux

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to set up surround sound in linux? I have a sound blaster live! digital and logitech z540s, and the sound is very crappy, and i dont know how to get it set up to use the 4.1 aspect of my sound card. Any help would be very much appreciated, thanks.

http://www.opensound.com I got all 4 of my Creative 2600 digital speakers working. It'll cost you though, about $35 but well worth the price and it is also very easy to install and upgrade.
