Surprised how ridiculously expensive the Cadillac CTS is.

Definitely drive a 2009+ A4 or 2010+ S4 before going with the 2007-2008 S4. The pre-2009 car just isn't as dynamically pleasing as the newer B8 platform IMHO.

Of the list you mentioned, a A4 manual, S5, or 335 Coupe would be best unless you can afford a brand new CTS-V. Of course, test drive all of them...everyone has different preferences and needs.

One thing about the A4 with the 2.0T is that you can improve the engine performance fairly easily with ECU-flashing.

The S4 is pretty nice, but I've only driven the DSG model, and it was the most annoying gearbox I've ever used. I never got to drive the manual version -- I am sure that would have been a beast. 🙂

I have not driven either...but I have driven a DSG on the A3 and GTI...it did not exhibit any of the problems you mentioned in your thread about the S4 some weeks ago. They are two different DSG transmissions from my understanding though...so that might have been something to do with it...or the unit in the S4 may have had some issues.

As much as I enjoyed driving the DSG in the GTI/A3...I am a little wary of the new tech and would definitely buy a manual with either of those cars or with the S4.

I took a liking to the CTS Coupe, and thought to myself...wow, finally a nice American coupe!

I just can't get over the racial overtone of owning a Cadillac. Where I live, only Black people own Cadillacs, often with huge rims on it. I'd hate to be one of "those" guys. (Fake HipHop/Gangster wannabe DUB fans -- not being racist per se.)

For a split second, I did like the Coupe though.

That's why I don't own a Honda, Nissan, or Toyota. Friggen Asians.

Yup, don't forget that the Chrysler/Dodge crowd is similar to the Cadillac crowd. Toyota, Honda, and Nissans are out...I can't stand those stuffy people with Audis/MB/BMWs too...What's left?

A Yugo?

I test drove a R32 with the DSG and was pretty impressed. The dealer was hilarious, "Pull up next to this ricer Accord, tap it into 2nd, and blow him away." :awe:

I need to get an upgrade over the Jetta, that R32 felt like a beast to me.

Same could be said for many cars when you look at the loaded trim levels. A Miata tops out at around $33K! VW GTi, around $30K. Ridiculous.

Overall though, I feel that cars have stayed in line with inflation.

Loaded 528i with 225hp motor, over $70k! Hahahahaha. 🙂

Hopefully nobody would ever go for that...It's pretty easy to find a 2 year old used 550i with sport package for less than $50k. It would blow the doors off that 528i in terms of looks and power.

And then for 10k more than that 550i you could have an M5.

Here I am in 2020, looking at this forum from 2009 because I am in absolute awe at how absurdly overpriced the Cadillac CT6-V is. The car costs roughly the same price as the new BMW M5 Competition despite the interior looking like a Chevy Malibu in comparison. I can't imagine who would buy the Cadillac over most other cars offered in that price range.
