**Surgery Update (Again)** With Pics!

For those who care.....

My wife had her surgery this morning at 7:30 AM. 3.5 hours under the knife. She spent the rest of the day in ICU. Depending on her condition, she will be moved to normal room in the hospital tomorrow.

She is in severe pain from the surgery. She's on a PCA Morphine pump.

The surgeon said everthing went exactly by the book. No surprises or problems. They removed a piece of her skull roughly 4x4cm.

Well, I'm going to try and get some sleep. We were up at 4am getting her to the hospital and I just got home from there. I'm tired. 🙁

Hang in there Pal! She'll be fine 🙂 It sounds like the worst part is over, isn't it? My thoughts will center on her rapid recovery to full health 🙂

I'm glad everything has gone well, and the pain should come down quicker then you would think if it was anything like my shoulder surgery. The things they prescribed to bring down the swelling, inflammation and pain associated with the incisions and things worked wonders for me, and at least for me were not debilitating. This may be a little different for your wife, both from the nature of her surgery and her reactions to some of the drugs, but I think she should feel much better by the time you get up.

Good luck, hopefully you won't need it but I'll say a prayer for you guys.

Glad to hear it was a 'routine' day according to the surgeon... not so for you guys though I'm sure. I pray as she recovers she will find the relief sought.

Mmmmmm, now that's the stuff. Have her smuggle some of it out for later 😉😀

Hope she has a speedy recovery.

Thanks for the update. I've been wishing the best for you and your wife.

I hope she's feeling better soon!

Glad to hear the operation went well, here's hoping she has a speedy recovery and the surgery
eliminates those headaches !!

I do ...

The part about the surgeon saying that everything went according to plan is very encouraging.
My best wishes for a full and speedy recovery.

Was this why she kept on getting headaches before?

well im glad the surgery went well, wish her a speedy recovery from all of us. 😀

Thanks everybody! 🙂

I saw her this morning. She was sitting up and she ate some breakfast. The doc said she'll stay in ICU for the day and be moved to a regular room tomorrow. She'll probably be able to come home Friday or Saturday. 🙂

<< What was the problem? Backround story? >>

She has had nearly constant headaches, similar to migraine in symptoms, for the last 8 years. She has been fired from at least 4 jobs. Without her being able to work, we had to file for bankruptcy. In November 2000 she tried to commit suicide.

At home she's currently been on Actiq, which is 200x the power of Morphine and hardly put a dent in her pain.

Wow..........Good luck to your wife dude! Makes me feel a little better..............I was gone from A/T recently for about 4 weeks..............had my second back surgery in the past 12 months and third overall!🙁 I now have enough Titanium in me to make a ball bat and bending is a REAL pain...........but, that seems awfully insignificant compared to what your wife has gone through! I wish her a speedy recovery and you to be strong and help her recover quickly also! Good Luck!🙂
