Surgery tomorrow :)

Looked down a few months ago - saw a bulge that was not expected. Long story short - I have a ventral hernia. Repair surgery is tomorrow. Not looking forward to it 🙁.

Update - I'm still alive and kicking. Hands off my stuff!

Stomach hurts like hell and I cannot sleep (hence why I am posting at 4AM . . ., but all in all the surgery was not too bad.

Lie about what? I'm a fatass. Everyone can see that.

He/she doesn't give a rats ass about your diet, snoring, drinking, smoking, prescription and/or illicit drug use, etc... He just wants to know so he can be sure you wake up....

I had hernia surgery 10 years ago. Its painful immediately after surgery. It's not that bad though. You will be fine.

So they're cutting up your balls? Awesome!

Many years ago I had an ultrasound down there (also a lump; turned out to be nothing). "Awkward" doesn't even begin to describe that experience...

My dog had a hernia from her "fixin'" procedure, and hers has all but disappeared. So my advice is just to wait it out.

Plus the guy above who's 92, obviously his hernias have contributed to a long life.

My daughter had an operation when she was 24 hours old. If she can do it, you can do it.

(I don't want to threadjack but GasX, I am still amazed someone was able to anesthetize her when she was that little. Hats off to you.)

Good luck. It will be painful at first but you will get some good happy pills. Take it easy the first few days and you will be back on your feet in no time.

If you have sleep apnea tell the anesthesiologist, it makes it much more difficult for them to wake you back up and make sure you are OK afterwards.

OP, been there done that. Uncomfortable for a week or two, but happy to have it behind me.

In my experience, their sleep apnea concern seemed more over making sure the effects of the anesthesia had completely worn off before releasing me (day surgery in my case).

I had a double issue where I had undiagnosed sleep apnea and it was keeping me from waking up properly and it was setting off a heart arrhythmia. They had to keep me on oxygen for the night and had a nurse at my side until everything had completely worn off.
Not that I remember much of it... :awe:

No. I do not have an inguinal hernia. I have a ventral hernia. About 2 inches up and to stage left of my bellybutton. If my balls are up there my "human development" teachers have some explaining to do.

My uncle has two hernias, and has had them for over 40 years. He's 92 now.

I've ignored mine for as long as I can. Doc said it was fine as long as it did not hurt. Well, its been hurting like a bitch. Especially after I eat. So - time to get it fixed.

Mix is just jealous because they told him it would be a few more years before his dropped.

😛

Yeah its amazing how docs can operate on tiny kids. My daughter had open heart surgery at two months old, so I concur with your amazement.
