But why I use one?... cause audiophiles recommend it for home theater and there are surge protectors with over $100,000 insurance on surge damages.

I'm sure you know how difficult it is to collect the expected amount from auto or home owner's insurance. I bet this would be even harder to claim.

probably:p but you never know what really blew your pc component anyways. i use some decent curtis stuff i got from staples:) original price was 40-50 so i'd say its decent protection, not sure curtis is still around though.

<< Usually there are three of these Quarter(actually you're pretty well off if you have Quarter size MOV. Many cheapies use Dime size) sized MOV in so called surge protector power strips, perhaps two in real cheapie and they couldn't cost more than 30cents each in bulk. >>

I have a "surge protector" that has only 1 (quarter size) MOV. Talk about quality!

BTW, high end APC SurgeArrests have 6 (quarter size) MOV's and a bunch of other things.

<< Anyway, Belkin includes lightning strikes in the warrantee which for me is either 25K or 50K. I assume most of the mroe respected names do the same... >>

That's strange, the Belkin I saw had a star and when you read the really fine print it said the exact opposite.

I wouldn't trust a Belkin. I have seen too many of them fail and read too many bad reviews.
>>

Go here for details on their warrantee... with model numbers and $$$ level of protection... Notice the 2nd paragraph.

"Belkin Components will repair or replace , at its option, any equipment which is damaged by a transient voltage surge/spike or lightning strike"

http://www.belkin.com/support/cew/F5C795-100BT.pdf

The company stands behind their products.

I need to get a surge protector, I need some recommendations as to which one to get. Also, where can I go to read reviews on surge protectors? Thanks for any help in advance. :)
