I picked up an open box Surface Pro 11 Intel on ebay, the top spec version for $2000 to replace a 7+ that I used for 5 years. The msrp is $2780 and really overpriced, since MS restricts sales to business retailers where they never go on sale, but ebay has some decent deals with an existing warranty. It's still been an excellent upgrade, way more responsive and snappy especially on battery, and the 120hz OLED screen is beautiful. I got the non-flex signature cover and pen.
I use this for all non-gaming work and travel including VMs/dockers/programming/trading platforms and classic strategy/RTS games. The Qualcomm versions are much cheaper but I think the Intel is worth the extra to avoid compatibility hassles and the GPU is twice as fast. I looked at some other x86 devices that offer better hardware for less money (Asus Z13 and MSI Prestige 13) but they lack some key features or are too heavy. Nobody else really makes exactly this type of device, Dell used to but discontinued them. I also set up Apollo/Moonlight to stream games from my desktop, which works very nicely and can be used on travel.
