wtf do you guys use to remove the finger smudges on the screen? it's smudge city up in this bitch.

Use isopropyl alcohol and paper towel or microfiber cloth. The spray bottles they sell as optical lens cleaners (eyeglass cleaning solution) works well. Alcohol swabs like the kind you can get from pharmacies work well, too.

Isopropyl alcohol is good to have around for cleaning most electronic items or displays. Safe and effective.

1. Ethernet -- USB 3.0 to 1Gbps Ethernet available -- not many of the Ultrabooks in the ultralight weight class have full-sized Ethernet ports nowadays -- it's either by dongle/USB/Thunderbolt.

2. Optical drive -- ditto, see above.

3. VGA -- There is miniDP -- get a mini DP to VGA adapter?

Unless there's an updated Ethernet dongle its actually USB 2.0 to 100mb. At least that is what was sent to me, if there's a newer one let me know so I can get it exchanged. We don't have WiFi coverage yet at work so my options are Ethernet dongle or Verizon data card, but that won't work well in many of my buildings.

Sigh, my tablet keeps getting pushed back. Now might not ship till end of month, hoping my rep will at least give me a shipping upgrade to try and get it there before Thanksgiving.🙁

There are actually some USB 3 to 1GBs ethernet adapters available. I'm using one on an Acer W700P tablet at work.

I'm using this one I got off Amazon.

The adapter has been flawless. I have not had a single issue yet. It came with drivers but I have not yet installed them. Plugged the adapter into the tablet and it auto installed the drivers. Adapter is much faster than the USB 2 one we had previously used and is much more reliable and faster than wifi.

There are a couple other companies. We also have another brand at work but I'll have to check. The one I linked is the one I personally use and it's been flawless with Windows 8/8.1 thus far.

Thanks, I may just throw this on one of my next orders. Since I already have the official Microsoft one its not a big deal if it doesn't work wonderfully with the surface.

I am blown away by how awesome this shit writes. Are there any other stylus' that would be considered an "upgrade" over the current stylus?

Just my luck. My pro won't turn on.

//edit

After several iterations of hitting the volume up/down/power button, I'm back.

You shouldn't have tried. Should have taken it to the MS store, show them the problem and come back home with a 500gb version... You missed a golden opportunity. Lol..

I have the same one. It works quite nicely with the surface. I was getting around 850 Mbps peak

Seems you encountered the sleep of death. MS is supposed to push an update to fix affected units, not sure when.

NS1 what are you using the stylus for? Why are you writing, just a Q

new workflow

1) start button + volume down = screenshot
2) start button, open pictures view
3) swipe from right, share to photobucket
4) go to photobucket to grab link, then share on ATOT

Buy the Wacom Bamboo Feel stylus, and then use the soft (felt) nib.

Sample...

For those who are wondering: yes, that's my friggin' handwriting and all. I wrote most of that in portrait as well. 16:9 or not, this thing has been SOLID for handwriting and sketching.

That looks like a great stylus except for one huge personal issue. I absolutely NEED the eraser side of the surface pen and it doesn't look like that pen has one.

This.
I wish there was a Wacom felt pen that has the following:

1. Felt nib if possible.

2. Pocket clip (which is a viable and good alternative to those who needs a built in silo, and a built in silo does not work with my next two requirements...)

3. The side button switch (two would be very nice)

4. Eraser end, more rounded and less cylindrical than the default Surface Pro pen. But looking over at TabletPCreview forums, nice pens that work with the Surface Pro and other Wacom Penabled PCs are getting in the RARE territory.
