Yeah, Miami is another ass whomping. :( Not liking the looks of this year for football.

Seton Hall?! Seton HALL!?!?! If SU gets that one last guy (I can't remember his name) they'll have a top 5 recruiting class (of 4 or 5 Freshman) and will be whomping bootay in no time! :D

Vick is a goooood QB. Weinke will still probably get the Heisman, though...

I spent the majority of my weekend in Roanoke, VA. 20 Min from VA Tech and all I hear is Tech this and Tech that. Tickets awarded on the radio and how Vick is god. The talk of expanding the stadium is a big hoopla. All I can say is they better step back and look and the whole picture.

Just a short 2 years ago they couldn't GIVE those tickets away and once Vick is gone the same thing will more than likely happen. All I can say is they better spend more money on a new bandwagon because I've seen more people jump on these past 2 years the wheels are about to fall off.

actually, roanoke is 45 minutes from here, and 3 years ago we won the orange bowl, or some other bowl, or something. tech has a very loyal fan base, and they've always sold out the big games, before vick came here.

meh, i still hate my school.

<< sold out the big games >>

Well I guess my point is loyal fans sell out ALL the games but SUO is right. You gotta start somewhere.

Loyal is the Washington Redskins. Although they are pro they have sold out every single game since 1977 and there is a 7 year waiting list for season tickets and a 5 year list for individual tickets.

And to think, DC fans are very fickle. :)

Since VT's recent success, they have been getting much more press here in DC. They dominate local college sports coverage, even considering the 10 or so major Div. 1 schools that are far closer (by 5 hours or more) than Blacksburg.

that's pretty impressive, but yes i agree, it is going to this town's head. there's construction everywhere from all the money rolling in, and it's getting very congested here. they are making a deliberate effort to put this school in the same league as your Penn State's and your Michigan's. I for one am happy for what it's doing to the value of my degree, but I sure will be glad to get out of here.

SUO, that BC game was horrendous! I'll be at the VT game though, undoubtedly throwing my "'Cuse" hat at every missed field goal like always...I think I'll need a new hat by the end of this year. I've had this hat for 6 years...and Mike Shafer's FG kicking futility will most likely force me to get a new one...THAT B@STARD!

the worst part about vick is that he isn't even that great of a qb this year...his passing stats aren't very impressive...and the worst part is that he is more dangerous on a broken play than he is on a completed on...i mean if you're gonna run as the qb 50+% of the time, y not just be a damned running back?

Farbio-

I think we are beginning to see the evolution of the quarterback. Pocket passers are in diminishing numbers and mobility is almost a requirement these days. Sure, folks like Manning, Warner, and Weinke are holding strong ... and doing well, but look at McNabb, Culpepper, King, even going back to Randall Cunningham and his days at UNLV.

Culpepper isn't a QB, he's a linebacker.

6'4" 255 lbs.

He's got a cannon. Runs a 4.3 and is pretty accurate.

I think I'd pick him in the mobile category. Otherwise Manning would be my man any day. Quarterback of course for all you smartasses. ;)

suo - i wasn't trying to say that the quarterback role isn't evolving, i think it is and i like what its evolving to, i was just saying that vick is the extreme. he may set up for a pass play, but it seems that he would rather just take off and run it once a small hole opens up. to me that doesn't signify a quarterback, esp when his passing numbers haven't been very good in the past few weeks, just my $.02 though:)
