I just got a spankin from my isp from bittorent. I wouldn't advise it if you're getting anything that might be considered illegal.

Really? What happened?

Edit: And who is your isp?

Probably a cable provider like Comcast. They've been going after heavy downloaders.

AFAIK it is considered illegal to d/l TV shows. Even though it was broadcast on public TV, the people hosting the d/l's do not have the right to distribute the shows.

I think that's fvcking stupid. If I ever get hassled by a group/network/etc about that episode of 24 I downloaded last week, then I will fight it as long as I can.

TV Shows are NOT YET ILLEGAL by law to download. They are a grey area. Therefore, the TV producers will say it is illegal in hopes of putting a working stigma on it that deters people from downloading them. There have not yet been any significant court cases to determine whether or not someone has the right to share TV shows on the Internet (correct me if wrong) so until that has been decided.

This is just like Microsoft saying that you cannot resell software that you bought and paid for and are done using. Microsoft can say it's illegal all they want; it doesn't make it illegal. Prohibited and illegal are TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT MEANINGS.

Anyway, thanks a lot for the PMs giving me legitimite links!

It seems that suprnova.org has been smacked right off the Internet (possibly by DOS attacks).. Is there any other cool Supernova.org-like sites to check out?

What? Are you getting upset because you can't pirate software anymore? Can't illegally download movies? Get a life, moron.

Hey, read the thread. We said STFU and we meant it.

Nanny Nanny Boo Boo, crapper.

OOOOOOOOOOhhhhhhh. What're you going to do? Come to my house and beat me up? Bring it on!

I am cowed by your evident physical prowess. I surrender but will occasionally think back on this thread before going to sleep at night and think of clever things I should have said.

<- gets in the last word

You, sir, suck. Get a life.

I'd send you some more links, but I'm not on the home PC... I see nothing wrong with downloading tv shows... especially if you've already watched the show. There's nothing at all illegal about me recording it on the VCR, so what's wrong with getting the copy via the internet. However, if anything was illegal, perhaps it would be illegal to *upload* not download.

Hmm... I'm getting this message when I go to their site: "Bandwidth limit exceeded, torrents are still up. Please try another mirror."

Suprnova.org works very hard to stay up by constantly mirroring their site with different free hosts, who of course remove suprnova when they discover it. I just hit reload, and right now it's trying to pull down from some mirror over in Poland..

If anyone knows of a similar site, please send me a pm? Thanks!

Edit: What say we put the anti-filesharing Nazis up against the wall with the Repost Nazis and shoot them? The world would be better off...
