Verizon FiOS (Phone, Internet, and TV) is coming to town. YEAH BABY!!!!!
About freaking time.

You can bet I'll be calling the cable splicing tech first thing tomorrow morning while I'm at work.
I've already put his business card in the lab coat that I'll be wearing tomorrow.

I really don't understand wth anyone would do with that much bandwidth. Maybe that's just me, though.

Fios is just a different format and is a hype right? Meaning my dad already gets full HD through Comcast but he's convinced VZFios would provide even BETTER quality pictures of the same channel.

I think that's ridiculous unless I'm in the dark. Can you verify?

I don't care about TV. Only internet.
We still use a 32" RCA black box here. At least the screen is flat.

Only channels I watch 99% of the time whenever I decide to watch TV(which is rare) are history channel, animal planet, national geographic, discover *.*, military channel, and Bloomberg.
If while flipping channels I happen to see The Cosby Show, Seinfeld, Family Guy, or some other classic that I enjoy, I just might sit down and watch.
Yes, I'm a boring guy in that I don't watch American Idol, or reality TV programs.

I also use Comcast on demand during the summer to view their "free" movie section.
That's how I saw some Alfred Hitchcock, John Wayne, Humphrey Bogart, and many other old classic movies.

We will look at the prices...
We currently have Comcast cable basic, Verizon DSL, and Verizon land phone.
After changing to FiOS internet, if Verizon's TV will end up cheaper, we'll get it.

That's a good question. It's possible that the Comcast HD signal is compressed and FIOS would be less compressed.

HDDs are cheap. Unless you're worried about theft or fire why would you opt for remote backup?
