Nice doomsday scenario there Dave. Well, at least you can keep an open mind about it. ;) Here's an alternate ending for you: The U.S. remains a vibrant, secular society where all religions are allowed to flourish because the government neither favors nor supports one religion vs the others.

This case is not being heard for two reasons. First, Moore had referred to his monument as an object linked to religion. That immediately removed any argument saying they are being displayed in a historical context, which MIGHT have gotten at least a cursory review.

Worse for Moore, he is being brought to account for failing to heed an order to remove them, and is subject to disciplinary action. The Supremes are not going to lend an ear to a judge who fails to obey a court order.

Moore is screwed.

I have been seeing the reaction to the "Get rid of God" assault of the "Bible Belters" and I know they will fight and shed blood. Right now the USSC has the right idea to leave the issue alone. If more Judges take their lead and hint then just maybe the radicals looking to "cleanse" or rid the U.S. of anything mentioning "God" won't have anything to continue their "Anti-Crusade" and the Bible Belters can go back to their worshipping rather than gearing up for war.

True Moore's display was of Religious nature and does not belong as a "Monument" in the middle of the Courthouse.
The plaque along side the other historical documents is totally different.

They will have to take up a similar case eventually. Their own building has the ten commandments prominently displayed throughout.

As hundreds of public buildings do throughout the country. And historic displays are perfectly fine. Huge monuments secretely installed in the middle of the night manufactured in the 21st century are not.

Exactly, the people pushing for the removal of "God" from money, the Ten Commandments also said the Govt buildings such as the Supreme Court must undergo architectual remodeling to rid the religious symbolism.

Yes, but there is a difference.

They will not be fighting the Islamic or any other Religion, they are fighting for all religion. It is a War against a return of the Dark Ages.

Ridiculous. You are confusing the issues and presenting a false dilemma. Nobody is prohibiting your right to freely exercise your religion by removing misplaced references to "God" from public buildings.

A return to the Dark Ages is what these bible thumpers want. They want a government based on their "personal" religious beliefs and want those beliefs displayed as the One True Law. Not all religions are based on your Ten Commandments or on your God(s).

The pledge of allegance should be said by every american citizen in the US. Period. It pays respect to the millions that have given thier life to keep our country free. It pays respect to the country which you live in, and enjoy the fruits of the past citizens labor. Even with the current government it still is one of the best places to live in the world. The christian ethic has made it that way. The same ethic that wrote the constitution and everything that the nation was built from since. It is the same ethic that wrote the basic laws that we follow every day.
It is a crime against all, since there is blatent immorality sweeping past everywhere. If everyone would take the time and follow just the 10 rules, it would be a better place. There would be almost no crime. They cover just about every infraction of the law. There is no better place to remind people of the basic human laws than in a court. Since most of whom who enter are needing some reminding.

So I have to pray to your false God? Yeah, right.

The ramblings of your imaginary beings are not "basic human laws". Your morals don't apply to me. Thank you very much. If you claim that "your" (since Catholicism is a legal religion in this country) morals apply to me, then I should be able to pay money to get a pardon from committing crimes. Of course, religions that don't acknowledge anything to do with your Ten Commandments are legal in this country. If you'd like to impose on all other religious groups, I dare you to try.
