Roberts delivers the majority opinion after siding with the liberals.

Reading this, he basically says SCOTUS could care less whether or not DACA is good policy. What they did care about is the arbitrary and capricious nature of Trump’s decision-making process and how DHS failed to provide any “reasoned analysis”—in fact he goes further to argue that this Administration could not reasonably argue that their decision ending DACA was based on anything other than animus, violating Equal Protection Clause of 5A.

An ongoing theme of the administration is losing in court because they are too dumb or lazy to simply follow the process, make the lies too transparent, or leave records of their malign intent laying around.

Yay for the incompetence of modern racist buffoons.

Based on a REALLY quick skim
Opinion of the court - "WTF bro? Was this written in crayon? Do you know how to make an argument? Come back when you learn how to not waste our time with shit arguments"
Dissent - "Fuck Obama and fuck these other assholes on the bench because they didn't attend our Federalist society fundraiser last year"

Trump and Stephen Miller must be having seizures.
I'm sure Trump has already asked his office to draft up a EO overturning the decision. His staff are the ones having seizures trying to figure out how to write a EO that will make Trump happy that is not outright treasonous.

And here I was not yet done reading the hot takes about how these rulings were good for Trump and he'd welcome them.

Perhaps lost in all this is that Trump is self immolating on hugely popular ideas. Overwhelming majorities of Americans (and even large majorities of his own voters) think that employment discrimination based orientation is bad and that DACA eligibles should get to stay.

Really got the pulse of the nation down there.

Yeah I'm sort of leaning the conservaterrorists and trumpanzees want total domination but the scotus justices are taking the pulse of the nation to at least appear to be a just court on the surface.

Ofcourse if its us vs corporations.. the corporations are batting a 1.000

Running theme is that the closer we get to elections the more he keeps mentioning the 2nd Amendment to his idiotic base.

Also its the same BS from him
They don't like me therefore they are biased therefore its not fair therefore they are unqualified to do their job therefore only people who like me are qualified to do their job therefore

Roberts knows the risks of decisions on social issues when public opinion has shifted dramatically to one side. One major misstep and he shares a legacy with Taney. Most people don't notice or care about the biz stuff no matter how bad it is practically.

More than that, he is going to lean into 'The next President is going to get to choose at least one justice, vote for me and we overturn Roe V Wade!' It was a major theme of his last campaign. He really is a one trick pony. Unfortunately it is a good trick.

Nice little high level summary

On Thursday, the justices voted 5-4 to uphold the lower courts' findings that the administration's order violated the Administrative Procedure Act, which says a government action cannot be "arbitrary, capricious, an abuse of discretion or otherwise not in accordance with law" or "unsupported by substantial evidence".
...
Once again the Supreme Court has ruled that a controversial action by the Trump administration is illegal. And once again the biggest stumbling block for the White House isn't that their officials lacked the power, it's that they went about exercising them in the wrong way.

The Justice Department's attempt to rescind Daca was "arbitrary and capricious", the court held, in a way prohibited by federal law.

The fact that Trump has no actual interest in accomplishing the goals of social conservatives is something that is underappreciated by social conservatives. He thinks it’s good that he failed on one of their signature issues because it might help him personally.

Fox is going on and on about NOT FAIR Obama gets to do EOs Trump doesn't DOUBLE STANDARD. Cry, wah, kick.

Now Trump is bringing big 2016 energy by talking about all the extra conservative SCOTUS justices he'll appoint if re-elected. The GOP would certainly rather he not make the subtext into text right now given the nature of the DACA decision and an electorate that increasingly hates his guts.
