Supreme courst could strike down a law extending copyrights

It'd be great if they do it. It seems that as long as Disney & co pay, congress will keep extending copyrights forever.

Although i agree with the desired outcome of the case (limiting extension of copyright protections to such a ridiculous extent), this quote captures the situation pretty neatly:

''This is essentially a dispute about policy dressed up as a Constitutional question,'' The Walt Disney Co. said in a statement. ''Eldred is simply trying to second-guess what Congress has already decided, and we believe the Supreme Court should reject their attempt.''

I have to agree with him that Congress, not the USSC, is the proper venue for deciding this question.

Congress is always the proper venue for making statutes. Unfortunately, we get absurd laws which run afoul of the constitution.

Yep, so then the Supreme Court steps in and says that's not constitutional which means the law is invalid.
