Supreme Commander demo available

Wow...that was just terrible. I don't know what to say.

The game doesnt make any sense to me. It's total annihilation on a grander scale...yet for the life of me, I cant tell a bit of difference other than new graphics; it seems to play nearly exactly the same - just more units, on a larger scope.

Yet this scope is so large, that you are forced to essentially view the battle from WAY up on high in order to make any sense of it. And at that scale, your units are so tiny they are represented by geometrical icons. If you were to zoom down to a reasonable distance to try to catch any of the action, you STILL wouldnt be able to see more than a few pixels of your units, they are so spread apart. Bullets and such as also so tiny its impossible to tell if you units are actually shooting, and what theyre shooting at.

I guess it's just as well you view the action from up high, since the frame rate is ass on a modern system, and the gfx arent too hot anyway.

That's one huge demo. IMO, Gas Powered Games has had high ambitions, but never fully delivered. I really hope SC doesn't fall into that problem.

What a disappointment!

I don't know where those nice screenshots came from; you can't zoom in that far from what I can tell.

Where is the D-gun?

I tried a skirmish and found it rather easy to figure out. I don't see anything special about this game though, not yet.

is anyone running this on Vista?

This game is unplayable on my system for some reason, which is odd because I can play other games with relitive ease.

BF2, AoE3, Company of heroes.

yet this game runs at maybe 3 FPS. Is it Vista or my system?

What copy protection is on the demo? I just got a clean install, I dont want securerom or tardforce installed on my system.

Yeah and that was on January 3rd before the game was even released.

I have a bad feeling about this game!

They did a lot to make UT2003 fit in a 100MB limit, like using low res textures etc.
Nowadays no one cares how big their demos are.
