I'm building a PC right now and it's not going to be very high-end as I just changed my mind from only upgrading, it's more like a bigger upgrade.

Anyway, I can't decide between a 2 core intel and a quad core. I don't want to buy a more expensive CPU only for something like 10% improved performance. Basically the choice right now is between these two:

Q6600.

E6750.

GPU will be the upcoming 8800GT with 512MB.

Note: I'll be mostly playing this for the SINGLE PLAYER, if the CPU really chugs at huge multiplayer matches that aren't in the campaign (I'm not sure about this because I haven't played it yet), then I guess the dual core would be fine. Thanks for any help. :)

I'd for for the dual core now as well. Though, next year, after the quad core chips see some more diversification with the 45nm versions, I'll look at getting one for my system.

You could always get a dual s771 server motherboard and install two quad core Xeons. ;)
