Hi,

I bought this motherboard, X9SRL-F-O, and I want to add 64gb ram and then upgrade to128 GB.

What ram model do you recommend?

Ps. I made a mistake and I bought 4x 16 GB Crucial (model CT16G3ERSLD4160B) but the problem is that I receive a error when I boot the system, if I install only 2 the system boots, I think there is a incompatibility with all 4 dimms installed.

Thanks.

Andrei666:

You could populate the blue slots with 4 sticks of 16GB ECC Registered memory, then you could still upgrade to 128GB later on by populating the existing slots.

You didn't mention what speed you want to use, so here is a link to some Hynix and Samsung DDR3 1600:

http://www.superbiiz.com/detail.php?name=D3-16R16GH (1.5v)
http://www.superbiiz.com/detail.php?name=D316GR16GS (1.35v)

This board supports 1866/1600/1333/1066MHz ECC DDR3.

Link to 1866MHz Registered ECC (costs about the same as DDR1600):

I installed all 4 dimms (CT16G3ERSLD4160B) but the system is not booting, it shows this error "system initializing b7". googling that error it's say that is a memory problem. If I put only 2 dimms the system boots, also, I swaped the dimms to see if a dimm is broken but all are working.

edit: maybe the dimms that I bought are not 100% compatible with the board,I can go with 1600mhz version without a problem

Problem solved.

I dont know why the manual is saying to put the dimms in the blue slots for 64gb ram when the system show a error.

I added the dimms in the 1st 4 slots (2 blue and 2 black) and is booting.
