I have read about problems with 300 watt power supplies. I am interested in the SuperMicro 760A. Pentium 1.6A harddrive, dvd, cd-rw, video and sound cards. Should I go with Antec 1040? The SuperMicro 400W is $100 more than the Antec.
It's not as much about the 300W rating, it is more about the fact that very few 300W PSUs have a strong enough 5V line to power the motherboard. I think it is more of a problem with AMDs anyway.
I have owned both cases. I would have to say of the two, the Supermicro is clearly superior hands down. However if your budget does not allow it, the Antec will work also.
